5th Ave. Cat Clinic Serving Up Major Cattitude

Image Via Jezebel

Just a disclaimer, cats are my least favorite animal...right behind star-nosed moles and blob fish (you should immediately Google these things). I guess you could say that I'm a "dog person."

And yes, I know that YOUR cat is JUST like a dog and LOOOOOOVES people. My main question is...why didn't you just get a dog then? There is a very low chance of a dog not being "dog-like"...and a very high chance of a cat not being "dog-like."

Anyway...

One of our FIPS readers tipped us off about her experience with 5th Avenue Cat Clinic and let's just say...she has some less-than-flattering things to say about them. I will note that this place (from the outside) totally creeps me out.

WHO GIVES A SHIT: DOES YOUR PARK SLOPE DOG HAVE A 'TRENDY' NAME?

Oliver's name is officially not trendy. Dude is PISSED.If you live in Park Slope and you don't have a baby, you best have a dog. And if you do have a dog, it sure as shit better have a trendy goddamaned name.

And just like you wouldn't want your trendy, zumba dancing bebe to have a regular ole name, you certainly don't want your labradoodle or puggle prancing around the streets of Park Slope sans a trendy moniker. In case you didn't get the memo: Spot and Fido are way the hell out.

And so, herewith is a list of the trendiest, most on-point pooch names in the 11215. I'm guessing this list looks a hell of a lot the Kindergarten class roster at PS 321.

BASSET HOUND MEETUP IN PROSPECT PARK [CUTENESS EXPLOSION]

video by Greg Reitman

The 2nd Annual North Park Slope Basset Hound Association meetup went down yesterday in Prospect Park and trust me when I say: you have never seen so much unbridled adorableness in your entire friggin life.

Round about 18 Basset Hounds and their owners got their groove on for a few hours of Basset mayhem, and much fun was had by all.

FIPS Cares: Save a Dog, Cat, Chinchilla or a Mouse with Two Clicks of The Latter

Here are some of the animals up for adoption!

A nice FIPS reader named Jenna recently let us know that Sean Casey Animal Rescue, a nearby no-kill animal shelter, is a finalist for a funding grant from Chase Bank. They're looking to the community for votes to help win said funding grant, and the deadline is MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, so let's get on it!

Here's the rescue center's mission statement:

The purpose of this endeavor is to aid unfortunate animals in the interest of a higher quality of life. We take in rescued, confiscated, neglected, injured, ill, unmanageable, or otherwise unwanted animals from private owners, zoos, shelters, and other public organizations. These animals are cared for, and/or rehabilitated to the best of our ability and means until which time they can be found healthy, happy homes - whether it be through adoption to qualified candidates or legally released into habitats suitable to the specific species in conjunction with licensed wildlife rehabilitators.

You can help save animals without having to donate or adopt or even show up to the rescue center… just click to vote for this local business, and encourage your friends to do the same. If you're on Facebook, you can vote here. If you are a Chase Customer, you can also vote here.

FIPS CARES: Let's Find These 2 Sister Cats a Home!

A Park Slope couple moving out of the country is looking for a new home for their two young cats. If you're looking to adopt a few felines to make your apartment cheerful and free of mice, please reach out to them via this craigslist ad.

And before some of you get all, "These-people-sound-like-selfish-dicks-who-adopted-the-cats-and-now-won't-take-responsibility-for-them," know that this doesn't sound like an easy decision for this couple. Surely moving cats out of the country isn't an incredibly simple feat.

Here's their post:
