PORTLANDIA SAYS 'NOT COOL' TO TYING UP YOUR DOG

There's been a hell of a lot of debate on FIPS regarding whether or not it's a good idea to tie up your dog whilst you run into Ace Supermarket or Radio Shack or wherever the hell you're going. 

Thanks to reader 4th Ave of the Apocolypse, we were reminded of this hilarious clip from Portlandia (which is seriously one of the funniest new shows on TV). Clearly we'll be counting this as another vote for "not cool."

Let me set the scene of this almost catastrophe for you: last week Greg and I were both sound asleep--or at least I was. Greg was awoken by the sound of Oliver's nails click, click, clicking across the floor at a clip that he deemed quite unusual for 6:45 in the morning. Curious, Greg got up and followed him into the living room...and that's where he saw the wreckage. Oliver had managed to unsheath, and eat, 36 of those gold, chocolate Chanukah gelt coins that he fished out of a Target bag that we (VERY FUCKING STUPIDLY) had left on the floor with all of our nieces and nephews gifts. 

OMFG, OMFG, OMFG, OMFG.

COOL OR NOT COOL: Dogs in Bars?

I'll remind you that Foreign Dude has some very strong feelings about dogs in bars (he votes cool), and based on the fact that I'm completely obsessed with my own dog Oliver, it's not really a surprise that I'm throwing another vote cool's way. However, the city of New York is comin' down hard on the side of "not cool."

"Health Department officials wrote 125 tickets for “live animal violations” at bars and restaurants in Brooklyn between July, 2010 and July, 2011...the number of monthly tickets the city wrote in Brooklyn nearly tripled from June 2010 to July 2011."

According to the Brooklyn Paper, 1/4 of these violations went down in Wiliamsburg and Greenpoint, but Park Slope still has it's fair share of dog lovin' bars...and some of them are basically like "fuck the police."

Here's the thing: I totally get the whole no dogs in restaurant thing, but the no dogs in bars rule is just plain stupid. And even if you're gonna let the no dogs in bar rule stand, the no dogs on patios outside of bars is REALLY stupid.
