5th Ave. Cat Clinic Serving Up Major Cattitude
Just a disclaimer, cats are my least favorite animal...right behind star-nosed moles and blob fish (you should immediately Google these things). I guess you could say that I'm a "dog person."
And yes, I know that YOUR cat is JUST like a dog and LOOOOOOVES people. My main question is...why didn't you just get a dog then? There is a very low chance of a dog not being "dog-like"...and a very high chance of a cat not being "dog-like."
Anyway...
One of our FIPS readers tipped us off about her experience with 5th Avenue Cat Clinic and let's just say...she has some less-than-flattering things to say about them. I will note that this place (from the outside) totally creeps me out.
Here are some excerpts from her email expose:
-On How 5th Ave Cat Clinic Sucks at Communication: She says there was, "a total lack of explanation of how to apply a medication that meant it didn't work and the cat got almost fatally dehydrated and had to be put on an IV."
-On 5th Ave Cat Clinic's Overcharging For Prescriptions: "We discovered when we switched vets that the 5th Avenue Cat Clinic has been overcharging us for medication by 3x the going rate for a medication the cat gets daily -- $16.50 for what now costs us $5 -- and in one case, $50 more for a single bottle of pills than the medication costs online."
-On 5th Ave Cat Clinic's Mean Owner: "The owner's attitude when I went in to discuss both the questionable medical care our cat received and this ridiculous markup was completely arrogant and unapologetic, which I gather from responses to my posts about the situation on FB and my block's email list is par for the course with him."
(WAIT...does everyone have a "block" email list?!)
- The Nail in The Cat Shaped Coffin: "...the woman ahead of me had brought her cat in to be euthanized. She left (sobbing) to get her wallet to pay the bill. The owner/vet came out and asked where she was and berated the receptionist for allowing her to leave without paying, and told her to chase the woman down. I am not kidding."
SHE IS NOT KIDDING FOLKS. People with cats NEVER JOKE.
Now, this is obviously only one side of the story and it seems like she's got a flair for the dramatic. Anyone else experience a major dose of cattitude from 5th Ave. Cat Clinic? Has your experience been less than purrrfect? Think they've been taking a cat nap when it comes to listening to their patrons? Or do you think that they're the cat's pajamas?
(I want to punch myself in the face)
Love,
A Dog Lover and Sufferer of Cat-Allergies
