Regarding the #13 (apt numbering) purchase on Erica's list of recent United Methodist book sale booty: The Explorer's Guide: Hudson Valley & Catskill Mountains - "I have regular, ridiculous fantasies of buying a little weekend house somewhere, and this book  has a great roundup of lots of little towns in the Catskills" she said.

I think it might be time to take your dogfight upstate straight into the belly of the beast, the motherlode of summer breeding grounds for Park Slopers: The Lake Huntington Summer Community.

Cool or Not Cool: Misspelling Your Kid's Name?

Ohdeedoh recently published a post on current bebe naming trends, and if you've ever stood in line at Union Market listening to mommies scream at their kids running around with handfulls of organic kale, none of this shit is a big surprise: retro names (Josephine, Charlotte, Harry); "Double L" names (Delialah, Tallulah); "X" names (Max, Dexter); and "econonomical monosyllabic" names (Hal, Joe) are all very popular right now...and ESPECIALLY popular in this neighborhood.

Platinum Babies [My Tivo *Just* Threw Up]

Thank fucking gawd I saw this post on McBrooklyn last week...otherwise it could have taken me months of googling and channel surfing before I came across this majestic new TV series from WE: Platinum Babies.

If you've ever seen their barftastical series Platinum Weddings, you can pretty much guess what we're dealing with here, but just in case, let me spell it out for you anyway:

"Tatyanna, a hip and eco-conscious writer, is not afraid to spend on her second child. Her family belongs to a trendy private lifestyle club in Soho, her friend invites her to a trunk show to preview exclusive maternity wear and the baby's christening happens on a Mediterranean island where the family is flown."
