Heaven or Hell?: Lake Huntington Summer Community

Regarding the #13 (apt numbering) purchase on Erica's list of recent United Methodist book sale booty: The Explorer's Guide: Hudson Valley & Catskill Mountains - "I have regular, ridiculous fantasies of buying a little weekend house somewhere, and this book  has a great roundup of lots of little towns in the Catskills" she said.

I think it might be time to take your dogfight upstate straight into the belly of the beast, the motherlode of summer breeding grounds for Park Slopers: The Lake Huntington Summer Community.

Deep in the borscht belt, minutes from the site of Woodstock in one direction and the perfect stoner idyll in the other (Skinners Falls on the Delaware). Filled with Michael Pollan-loving cooperators, unionists who like a good singalong, social workers, and an army of snotty-nosed kids running around in nothing but mud and panty liners, this place is ripe for a BREEDER v. BALLER takedown weekend.

I can see it now: the BALLERS of park slope stage a salsa night takeover, set up a tent at the potluck, with a male lap dancing contest after the spooky walk and bonfire. Yes, it's true: this summer vacay could be yours for a whole lot less than a Hamptons time share or a play farm in Columbia County.

I'm thinking that maybe all you BALLERS should rent bungalows this July and take over the joint?

[ed. note: Ok, I just read the description of the joint on the Lake Huntington website and kids, play, children, and family time was mentioned approximately 11,000 times within a 7 paragraph round-up...this ain't how you're going to attract any BALLERS. In fact, based on the kidtastic description, I'm not even sure I would feel comfortable driving by the place while smoking weed in the car and blasting Jay-Z's new album as a protective shield. For your reference, this sentence is where I officially checked-out for good: "LHSC has been the training ground for hundreds of children..." Back to BALLER weekend house fantasizing in the Catskills I go].
