REVIEW'D: TALDE

Oh my gawd.

It's 9am the following morning AFTER the amazing Friends-n-Family opening we were invited to last night at Talde, and I'm still full. But I'm not full in a "I feel like I'm gonna barf, let me erase the experience of this meal" sort of way...more in a "the last food I consumed was so mind blowingly delicious, how the fuck am I supposed to follow that up with an egg?" sort of way. It's like my stomach is *not* quite ready to move on.

In a word, Talde was resplendent. You should seriously go there immediately, and see for yourself.

Barrio to Re-Open As Barrio Plates

Image via Brownstoner

Well, well, well. After much back and forth on the fate of 7th Avenue's Barrio, it appears that despite the papered windows, unanswered phone calls and lack of any mention of a renovation on their social media pages and storefront, the restaurant has not fallen victim to the Park Slope restaurant apocalypse after all. This evening we received the following in a press release:

Barrio Plates restaurant will open to the public on Monday, January 16, 2012. The restaurant, formerly known as Barrio, is located at 210 7th Avenue (corner of 3rd street) in the heart of the Park Slope section of Brooklyn.

FiPS Readers Weigh In: New Sichuan Dishes at Tofu

Photo by Yelp user Pravit C.Here at FiPS we love to hear what you guys think of our local restaurants (especially ones that I have yet to try). FiPS reader Erin recently wrote in to share her thoughts about Tofu on 7th Avenue, who recently added some spicy Sichuan dishes to the menu.

My husband decided to give it a try after seeing the Sichuan dishes advertised in the front window. The waitress who took his order went on and on about how the restaurant decided to spend a lot of money to hire a new chef, who specialized in Sichuan dishes and that it was a really big deal for them (don't know where the chef worked previously, I'm afraid).

OUR TOP 5 SUGGESTIONS FOR WHAT SHOULD GO INTO THE PS BKLYN SPACE

original image via Brownstoner

Have you heard the news? PS Bklyn is closed

If anyone out there in Park Slope is surprised by this development, then holy shit your head has been up your ass. The food sucked, the ambience was even worse, and despite the fact that this joint was located 1 measly block from my apartment, I've been there like twice in eleven months. Y'all know how lazy I am, so this fact is pretty telling.

As one of the largest, most centrally located spots in Park Slope I'm sort of fascinated by the fact that NO ONE seems to be able to get their shit to work over there. I mean, there is a crap ton of foot traffic, the space is beautiful, and there's a community of hungry, rich, lazy Park Slopers ready to brunch their faces off from the word "go."
