Barrio to Re-Open As Barrio Plates

Image via Brownstoner

Well, well, well. After much back and forth on the fate of 7th Avenue's Barrio, it appears that despite the papered windows, unanswered phone calls and lack of any mention of a renovation on their social media pages and storefront, the restaurant has not fallen victim to the Park Slope restaurant apocalypse after all. This evening we received the following in a press release:

Barrio Plates restaurant will open to the public on Monday, January 16, 2012. The restaurant, formerly known as Barrio, is located at 210 7th Avenue (corner of 3rd street) in the heart of the Park Slope section of Brooklyn.

Barrio Plates is the collaboration between Manhattan restaurateur Spencer Rothschild (RAIN, CALLE OCHO, BLT PRIME, DJANGO, YUSHI, COPACABANA) and Chef Martell Fonville (GRAMERCY TAVERN, A VOCE, INOTECA, AL DI LA). Barrio Plates will serve a tasting-style menu, featuring multi-flavored, multi-ethnic dishes.  The restaurant’s décor has been made over into cozy, chic boite, including antiqued mirrors and hand blown glass lighting.  Barrio Plates will be open nightly, and also serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays brunch as well as lunch on Thursdays and Fridays.

The Barrio Plates menu includes almond stuffed dates wrapped in bacon with blue cheese dipping sauce ($9), squash soup with fried sage, shaved parmesan & nutmeg ($7), crispy calamari with Dominican honey glaze, cashews & sprout salad ($9), forest mushroom and leek gnocchi tossed in brown butter ($12), bacon wrapped snapper with frisee salad ($15), and ultimate sliders of flank, brisket, short ribs smothered in smoked bacon marmalade ($13).  Desserts include a honey, apricot and cream torta ($7) and chocolate flan with white chocolate crème and coca nibs ($7).

Barrio is open 7 days a week for dinner beginning at 3:00 PM.  Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11:30 AM.  Lunch is served on Thursdays and Fridays beginning at 11:30 AM Corporate and private catering is also available. For more information, please visitwww.barriofoods.com

I'm glad to hear you survived the chopping block, Barrio. Just don't keep us in the dark for so long next time!
