Barrio Can't Decide What To Call Itself

First we thought 7th Avenue's Barrio was closing. Then we learned that, in an attempt to re-brand a little, they renamed the joint "Barrio Plates." And now, less than a month later, the name has petered out to a simple, monosyllabic "Mix."

Make up your minds, Barrioplatesmix!

How Does Park Slope Fare in the Lunch Department?

As one who often works from home, I’m always on the lookout for places to grub (for cheap) during the weekday workday. In general, people are open to spending a bit more on a big meal at dinner, especially given NY’s expected portion sizes, but it seems many of our more popular places don’t cater to the lunch crowd.  Who is giving us budget-minded folks a break for trying them during slower times? And while Park Slope’s variety of good eateries is appreciated, some things seem missing:

Manhattan Wine Bar Moving Into Great Lakes

Photo via NY Eater

As we first reportedTerroir, the self-described "elitist wine bar for everyone" with locations in the East Village, Tribeca and Murray Hill, will soon be opening their first Brooklyn location.

Owners Marco Canora and Paul Grieco recently confirmed that they'll be moving into Great Lakes' old space on 5th Ave and 1st Street. They have not announced an opening date.

This will come as wonderful news to all of the Brooklynites that have left rave reviews about their food and wine on the joint's Yelp page.

REVIEW'D: Fort Reno Provisions

For a while now, there's been absolutely zip in terms of true BBQ here in Park Slope. The closest option? Smoke Joint up in Fort Greene. As of today, shit done changed.

As we reported this past Friday, Union Street's getting not one but two BBQ joints—Fort Reno Provisions & Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. While Dinosaur Bar-B-Que & their four NY locales are already well known, Fort Reno is a brand new joint from Jacques Gautier, the owner & chef of Palo Santo, Lia Foreman of Colicchio & Sons and Anthony Laudato.

Franny's Is Making A Move

The now defunct Blockbuster will soon be Franny's new home

Local favorite pizza joint Franny's is making a move from their current location at 295 Flatbush to the not-so-distant 348 Flatbush, former home of that Blockbuster no one went to. According to NY Eater, "They'll keep the same format, and there will be two brick ovens, a take-out counter, a large main dining room, and a private dining room. And the owners are rumored to be holding on to the original location for a new concept, perhaps a fine dining restaurant."

Yum.
