OUR TOP 5 SUGGESTIONS FOR WHAT SHOULD GO INTO THE PS BKLYN SPACE

Have you heard the news? PS Bklyn is closed.
If anyone out there in Park Slope is surprised by this development, then holy shit your head has been up your ass. The food sucked, the ambience was even worse, and despite the fact that this joint was located 1 measly block from my apartment, I've been there like twice in eleven months. Y'all know how lazy I am, so this fact is pretty telling.
As one of the largest, most centrally located spots in Park Slope I'm sort of fascinated by the fact that NO ONE seems to be able to get their shit to work over there. I mean, there is a crap ton of foot traffic, the space is beautiful, and there's a community of hungry, rich, lazy Park Slopers ready to brunch their faces off from the word "go."
Anyway.
As most of you know by now, FIPS CARES. So herewith is our list of our top 5 suggestions for businesses we think should take over the PS Bklyn space immediately:
- Franny's 2.0! That place is off the hook delicious...and also always waaaaay too packed. They need some more space, and this place has got it.
- I think something like a Bubby's there would freakin kill. The brunch crowd on the weekend would be never ending, it would be a great new option for lunch now that Perch is gone, and I even think it would do pretty OK for dinner.
- An interesting Jewish Deli...like something along the lines of Mile End. People have left a million billion comments about wanting a Jewish deli anytime we do one of those "what type of business do you want to see in Park Slope?" posts, and it could be interesting to do something that offers seating, and has a deli counter.
- There's this place in LA called Joan's on Third...have any of you guys ever been there? It's a combo cafe market, and it's completely fantastic. It's like a cross between the deli counter at Dean & Deluca and an actual little cafe (i.e. it's not just all prepared foods). Having said that, the prepared stuff is amazeballs. They have like 19,000 diff salads, sandwiches, veggie sides, fab bread, pastries, cupcakes...it's like a bougie smorgasbord of amazing food. And they always do a ton of daily specials, I think a variation of that place could be interesting in the PS BKLYN space if you ditch the bar, and then just turn that whole side into either one long counter, or several different stations. I know that Union Market has prepared stuff as well, but it seems more main course-y and a bit heavier. People can buy their shit and either sit there and eat it, or take it to go. Here's Joan's menu so you can see what I'm talkin bout.
- Shake Shack! Yes I know there are 768,000 burger joints in Park Slope, but COME ON. Shake Shack would be epic, and you know it.
Ok, so your turn now. This one is slightly tricky b/c it's not just about what Park Slope needs, but more what sort of joint you think will *actually* work in that spot. Ideas?
