"At around 4:30 today I was walking up 8th Ave with my two kids and I saw this police car turn the wrong way down Montgomery Place.  Then this guy came running out of his building to flag down the officer because he apparently had placed a call to them to report a man riding his bicycle up and down 8th ave "singing loudly, talking to people strangely and CARRYING A CHAINSAW!"  My 4-year-old son was fascinated by this story but I have to wonder, did anyone else see this??????"

Uhm, did you?? Because, if so, I NEED TO KNOW RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

BREEDER DILF Suicide Contagion?

Can we call it a contagion yet? Why are all these supposedly successful middle-aged dads jumping out of their manhattan high-rises? First there was the UES daddy architect, and now an NYU professor!?

Is this yet one more advantage of living in Park Slope? (there aren’t enough high buildings to off yourself via high jump--in front of your effing kids no less).

This is really kind of creeping me out. I’m glad Erica talked me out of the annual fundraising appeal I was planning for the “give my husband a proper midlife crisis” foundation (text MLC911 to make a tax-deductible donation of $5, 100% of proceeds to actual relief). He might have tried to leap off our 4th floor fire escape in a huff of male hormones and emasculation.

But, really. WTF?

Another Fire In Park Slope [12th Street btwn 5th & 6th]

Yikes. Received this tip from a FIPS reader last night who describes another residential fire that went down in the Slope:

I'm not normally a rubbernecker, but the house right near my apartment building was on fire and I just watched FDNY put it out from my window.

First, I hope everyone is ok (didn't see any ambulances, but my view is partially blocked - did see folks in their PJs outside).

Second, but no less important, just wanted to remind everyone how awesome FDNY and NYPD are.  Whether you're fucked in Park Slope, or fucked anywhere else in the city, these guys (and gals) put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

I can't speak for the people in the burning house (but I certainly hope they agree) - I hope you guys just mention a big thank to all the brave people in the FDNY & NYPD.  Thanks!

ps - The Fire was on 12th street between 5th & 6th aves.

'Fuck Park Slope!' [NYE Fight Night]

While all you bitches were watching the fireworks in Prospect Park, rockin out at the Bell House, or having "unconvential sex" on NYE, there was apparently a multi-borough smackdown happening right in our own very nabe. That's right: Park Slope is now so hated, a roving gang of teenaged hooligans boarded a subway, ditched their NYE plans, and rode all the way down here from Harlem to kick themselves some ginuine Park Slope ass.
