REVIEW'D: NAHM THAI KITCHEN

Photo courtesy of Park Slope Lens

Today I took a little trip over to the new Nahm Thai Kitchen and it Ja Ruled!
First off, I went there at 5:30 because I have a baber and whatevs, but the place was still semi-full –– because of a little something called THE EARLY BIRD SPECIAL. This bidnezz goes down from 5:30-7:30pm and is basically a three course meal for twelve bucks! And the food is totally fucking amazeballs!

CHEEBURGER IN PARADISE: The FIPS Liveblog

For some ungodly reason, Amanda and I decided to go to Cheeburger Cheeburger last night and "live blog" our meal. Let me ruin the ending for you: IT SUCKED A GIGANTIC DIZZLE.

Here's why we think you'd be better off at McDonald's than at Barfburger Barfburger:

Erica: It's pouring out...I fear this is the universe sending me a message about our upcoming meal, and yet I decide to push forward anyway. CAUSE THAT'S HOW MUCH I CARE ABOUT YOU BTCHZ.

Amanda: Walk into this place and you're going to feel one of two things:1.) You are on the set of a John Waters film (this isn't a good thing) or 2.) The ghost of Frankie Avalon has spirited you back in time to the days of Grease.  Danny Zucco and Sandy Koalabear (I don't remember her last name, but I do remember that she was Australian) are ready to pop out from behind the counter and sing "You're the One That I Want."  Where's Stockard Channing when you need her?

[REVIEW'D] Park Slope Eye

Ok, so as y'all will recall, I got my eyes lazered last year...so yeah: I don't wear glasses anymore.

Greg, however, does. And we were lucky enough to swing by Park Slope Eye a couple of weeks ago so he could get a check-up with Dr. R. "I've never been so excited by my own retinas...Dr. R emailed me close-up pics and I turned them into my computer desktop wallpaper. How meta is that???" said Greg.

HOLY SHIT DOES THAT PLACE RULE, PPL! Here's why:

  1. You can bring your frigging dog! And they even have treats! They literally requested an Oliver meet-n-greet.
  2. They also have booze, apparently...though we didn't drink any.
  3. Everyone there is so helpful, it will literally make your head spin. Not sure what your insurance covers? No worries...they'll figure it out for you! Need a copy of your prescription? No problemo! They'll email it to you! I swear I thought someone was gonna offer to help me with my tax return or some shit.
  4. They're on Facebook...and Twitter...and probs Myspace for all I know. And their reviews on Yelp make them seem like the second coming.
  5. They're open on Sat and Sun.
  6. Best of all, ALL of their frames are out in the open and ready to be tried onto your face. Back when I was a glasses wearin fool, I would literally refuse to go to any place that did not have their frames out and available to be tried on, cause it was soooo annoying.

So yeah...if you are blind-n-shit, you should seriously go to Park Slope Eye.

[REVIEW'D] Da Nonna Rosa

Ok, so true confessions: Da Nonna Rosa *does* kinda remind me of Mama Rosa, and as we all know, that's not a good thing. However, they managed to win me over with one thing and one thing only: A RAVIOLI SLICE WITH VODKA SAUCE.

Boom. That's it.

That is literally the only piece of information you need about this new pizza joint on 7th Ave (in the old Elementi space).

Did I love the plain slice? No.

I didn't dislike it either...I just wouldn't walk past Roma (which is a block away) in order to get one. The pizza does not feel like classic NY style to me...it's a bit too thick and the crust just feels a smidge too crunchy. In fact Da Nonna Rosa kind of seems like its a pizza place in NJ rather than Brooklyn. However, they *do* have lots of weird, "fancy" slices, and sometimes you just get into a fancypants mood (Here's Park Slope mentions they even have a chicken caesar salad slice, which I totally  missed).

Also, they have seating...and the space is pretty nice. So if you're feeling like pizza and you wanna sit down and enjoy yourself (they also have a full-ish menu), it might be a good choice. It kind of reminded me of Pizza Plus, except that I think Pizza Plus pizza is DISGUSTING. But you know: that same vibe.

OH, and also they have gelato! And it looked delish, but I was fucking freezing, so I didn't buy any.

I'm sure there will always be a bazillion kids there, so I'll likely only swing by for take-out. But yeah: that ravioli slice with vodka sauce (pictured above) was the bomb diggity bomb bomb. And everyone there was super duper nice.

Anyone else been?
