Brooklyn Gets Its Own Anthem?

Nabewise and Stuff Hipsters Hate got together and decided to create a local band face-off, Brooklyn Anthem Bash, in order to provide our beloved Brooklyn with the anthem we allegedly never had.

Through May 9th, unsigned hipster bands all over Brooklyn will be allowed to send in their original music to compete for a day’s worth of free studio time at Let ‘em In Music Studios in Park Slope. This is a pretty sweet deal; recording shit ain’t cheap!

Whassup: Summer Lust Edition

Image via Celebrate Brooklyn. Can you taste summer? That mix of asphyxiating BBQ smoke and sweaty Ultimate "athlete" that means Prospect Park is back in full swing? Glorious, isn't it? Irish Gayboys and Girls Not Welcome at St. Paddy's Day Parade

Come on! Really?

Who would have thought that Park Slope of all places wouldn't let our Irish Lambdas march in our little annual St. Paddy's Day Parade. Aren't we weren't we the lesbian capitol of the Northeast?

Apparently, the uncloseted were relegated to the sidelines waving on a seriously gay gathering of heteros from the stoop next to the pink brownstone on Garfield.

Big hair and wigs? Check. Dancing boys? Check. Men in skirts and high schoolers looking like they could be at a Michael Jackson concert? Check. Check.

DINE IN BROOKLYN: GET READY

Loosen your belts, foodies.  Dine In Brooklyn starts March 21 and goes through March 31, so get ready.

It's the usual deal, $25 prix fixe for dinner, $20.11 prix fixe for lunch (what is that, a play on 2011?  COOL)—what's to hate?  Some people are even being extra-generous and offering 2 for 1 brunches/lunches at $20.11 and 2 for 1 dinners for $25.

Since the Visit Brooklyn website is retarded and doesn't have a landing page for Dine In Brooklyn (and only a downloadable PDF), we're compiling a list of participating Park Slope restaurants and the ONE Windsor Terrace one (WTG, WT!).
