NEVER FORGET: The Park Slope Little League Parade
In case you missed it, the annual opening day Little League Parade has enough cuteness to melt even the hardest of BALLER hearts (assuming you weren't trying to drive anywhere).
My pee wee, who I'd lost somewhere around Cheeburger, Cheeburger, was on stage holding the 78th Precinct league banner by the time I found her. This meant that we had no choice but to stay through the seemingly unending parade of dignitaries and pols making jokes about bad calls and speaking inspiringly.
I'd like to tell you what they all said but I've blocked it out. There were so very many of them: Christine Quinn, Marty Markowitz, Steven Levin, Bill De Blasio, and about a dozen more. For the whole song, I thought it was Bill De Blasio singing the National Anthem. It wasn't, sadly.
Leaving aside the glad-handing, the little league parade is our best annual showcase of Park Slope parents and pashas apart from Halloween. And since I don't want you to miss a mo' of such a rare treat, here are some pix for your edification and viewing pleasure.
Because I know you people care, kid two got two hits in her maiden game. As big brother so kindly pointed out, "You guys were really close. You'd have had it in the bag if you'd just scored another few FOURTEEN runs."
