FIPS Posts Dramatized at Brooklyn Blogfest 2011
Yes, it's true. Several FIPS posts were staged as dramatic monologue at last week's 2011 Brooklyn Blogfest and we weren't even there to bask in the glory. Thank god for this youtube vid!

Fucking Gothamist spies! How is it that they know about embarrassing and newsworthy(ish) PS 321 auction items before I do?:
Sure, school auctions have been an increasingly big thing over the years—not only as ways to raise money but also as social functions—but the prices at these things are getting a bit ridiculous when we are supposed to be coming out of a recession. Take, for instance, the current auction for Park Slope school P.S. 321's annual Spring Dance and Auction which this year includes a hideous $15,000 tiger-striped mink coat and a $10,000 Birkin bag (both donated by the same person).
Curious about who the donor might be and half wondering if it was Amy Sohn, I decided to check. Surprise, surprise: the donor turned out to be a dude.
Since the world's supposed to end the 21st, y'all better enjoy Brooklyn before it gets incinerated like the Gommorrah that it is. Even if not--it's spring, the time of outdoor festivals and fairs, cavorting and catcalls--live like it's your last week on earth. Welcome to Whassup, Imminent Armageddon Edition:
HOLY WAFELS & DINGES, THE FOOD TRUCKS ARE A’COMIN’! The Prospect Park Alliance is teaming up with the NYC Food Truck Association to turn Grand Army Plaza into a giant Food Truck Love Fest!
I haven't been this excited about grub since I last worked on the night cheese.

Be good to Mother Nature--at least, the highly managed version of it we Brooklyners get to see.
Good-hearted BK blogger, Marie Viljoen, of 66 Square Feet, is organizing a Litter Mob tomorrow to unburden spring shoots from oppressive Utz bags and deflated soccer balls at Prospect Park:
* 9 am
* Corner of East Drive and Center Drive
Volunteers will be pulling schmutz from the Park's Midwood section, the last bit of forest left in BK. Grabbers and gloves are provided.
