In the wake of Sandy, The Nets Have Postponed Their First Game

In keeping up with her string of dumping horrible shit on New York City, Hurricane Sandy has taken one more thing away from us: The Nets' very first game against the Knicks. The showdown was supposed to take place tonight, but because of the massive damage that Sandy has caused, including a shut-down of the entire subway system, the game has been postponed.

My Top 5 Places to watch Football in Park Slope

First things first: this is a football post, written by a woman. If either of those things put you off, here’s an awesome video about a dog that you can watch instead.

Now that I have your attention, I’d like to mention that the female writing this post originally hails from the Midwest; specifically a place that transforms into the 3rd largest city in the state when people flood to the college football stadium on game days. People from said state also tend to wear large pieces of corn on their head while watching football. Brooklyn Nets Point Guard Deron Williams Is On The Latest Cover of Sports Illustrated

Who Gives a Shit: Do you have tickets to the first Nets game?

Photo via Gothamist

On November 1, The brand new Brooklyn Nets will be playing their first, regular season game against the Knicks.

Did any of you get tickets? If so, where from, where are the seats, and how much did you pay?  Did you offer up your first-born to some dude on Craigslist? Did you cash in a life insurance policy? Or were you lucky and able to spend less than $100?

Spill, please.

Park Slope Olympic Fencer Race Imboden Handles Losing Like a Champ

With a name like Race, he was born to compete (side note: we're all collectively happy that fellow American Olympic athlete Destinee Hooker was destined to play volleyball, right?). Sadly, 19 year-old ginger-haired Park-Slope fencing prodigy Race Imboden was eliminated from Olympic competition this past Tuesday, but not after putting up a great fight and showing genuine sportsmanship. Park Slope moms, go ahead and pat yourselves on the back.

Though he started strong, taking an early victory against Brazilian star Guilherme Toldo, Imboden lost in the round of 16 to Italy’s 26-year-old Andrea Baldini. After being eliminated from the Men’s Individual Foil competition, the young gent took to his Facebook page to humbly thank his supporters with a heartfelt message quite mature beyond his 19 years.
