YES WE CAN Book Launch Party: Weds Night

True Confessions: my fave-oh-rite Chanukkah pressie this year, was this gorge photography book by Park Slope photojournalist Scout Tufankjian called Yes We Can: Barack Obama's History Making Presidential Campaign.

Scout was with Obama for the entire two years of his presidential campaign, and her book features over 200 fab, personal, moving, inspirational, insider-y pics of how the whole thing went down.

It's two months since the election, but I *still* sit on my couch looking through this book and crying like a friggin' baby. It really is something to see.

Anyway.

This Wednesday from 6-9pm, there is a book launch party for Scout in DUMBO, and you should all be there to bask in the glow of her fabulosity (we will be).

Today marked the inaugural launch of the Brooklyn Flea's Winter Antiques Pop-Up Market in DUMBO, and FIPS was there to catch some of the action.

The Pop-Up Market is located at 76 Front St. (@Washington Street) in Dumbo, and will be kickin it for the next 12 weeks (until March 29th) from 11-6pm.

My Mom Almost Gets it, But Still Thinks the Fake Hasid Robbers Are Bernie Madoff's Fault

My mom and I rarely see eye-to-eye on Judaism.

I was optimistic when she forwarded me this scathing attack on Bernie Madoff, delivered by a prominent Newsweek Rent-a-Rabbi. Jesus fucking christ - how'd you like to hear that spiel while you're standing on the Bema after your Haftorah portion?

But then as a goof, I sent her the story about the fake Hasids robbing the Diamond store in Manhattan.

She responded with a one line email:
