Who Gives A Shit: Doggie Daycare?

DOGS, DOGS, DOGZ, DOGZ, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

Yet another thing to add to our growing list of shit Park Slope needs badly: a KILLER doggie daycare.

Now look, before we knew any better, we used to take Oliver to Dog's Den...BAD IDEA JEANS. The dude now has a scar on his nose to remind him of that horrible time, thanks to some bitch assed dog that got into a fight with him one day and tried to chomp his nose off.

Also, everyone who works there (MOSTLY) could care fuck all about dogs. They need a job and that's it (and in case you're wondering, they get paid minimum wage...and I know this because one day when I was waiting for my dog to be brought up, someone thought it was a good idea to conduct an interview in the mothefucking waiting room out front). I actually think I saw a job listing for this place once, and nowhere does it say: MUST LOVE DOGS. They don't really give a crap and it shows.

Paws in Paradise is actually way the fuck nicer...and everyone who works there is very nice. And in fairness, Oliver has been there a few times and seemed to enjoy himself. But for some reason, there seem to mostly be smaller dogs there...and its just not very big...and I just always get the sense that when I drop Oliver off he's like: AYFKMWTS??? WHERE IS THE A-C-T-I-O-N.

I went once to look at that Place on Douglass (I don't even care enough to google the name right now) and it looked disgusting, so I never went back.

Man, we went to this place back when we lived in the city called The Paw Spot, and it was amazeballs. It was clean and beautiful, and everyone who worked there was crazytown about dogs. You got the sense that if they were not working at a daycare, they'd be at a vet's office, or a pet store, or somewhere where they could just be around dogs all day. So yeah...I'm not really so thrilled with the Park Slope doggie daycare sitch.

What about you? Do you doggie daycare it?

Hawt Dogs

photo: Gabi Porter for MetromixDogs, dogs, dogs, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Yeah...I know. But suck it the fuck up.

After a hot assed, romp filled Saturday a few weekends ago down at Dog Beach in Prospect Park, Oliver and a bunch of other FIPS-y pups were recently featured in Metromix's new pet-friendly section, Petromix.

Check out all the action HERE and enjoy a few of our faves below:

Allison's long standing wish to pit Oliver up against Ziggy to see who's cuter finally came true...and true confessions: Ziggy *does* look pretty hawt:

image: Gabi Porter for Metromix@allgrownsup's chihuahua Magdalena Gran Reina de Caninas Orozco pretty much stole the whole friggin show.

Gabi Porter for MetromixDo your remember Lexie? The dog who got mugged? He's recovering nicely, and has since joined a motorcycle gang:

Memorial Service For Fallen Raccoon?

As we all learned last Friday, raccoon crime sprees are all too common in our sleepy little nabe. Just when you think you're immune, you too might wake up to find the decapitated head of a raccoon peeking out of your silverware drawer. NO ONE IS SAFE.

However, we can't gloss over the fact that a raccoon *did* lose its life. And now its baby is motherless, and likely facing a lifetime of hardship and "yo momma is SOOO DEAD" jokes.

And I'm just a little confused because I didn't receive any emails over the weekend about any planned memorial services or candlelight vigils?? Anyone? Hello?

The murdered geese get 200 people (including police and local politicians) at a planned memorial, but the lone rebellious raccoon dies alone?

You disappoint me, Park Slope.

HELP: MISSING DOG

Ok, so yeah: it's all dogs all the time around here lately, but suck it up. This little guy is missing and we need to keep our eyes open. Here's the scoop:

He got out of our house late Sunday night on St. Mark's Ave btw 4th and 6th aves. He is a male dog and he responds to Dior or Biscuit (his nickname). He is almost all black but has a white stripe on his chest. He weighs appx 55 to 65 pounds and is very lean for a lab.

He is diabetic and needs insulin and other medicine daily, so it is very important that if you have found him that you let us know as soon as possible otherwise he will get very very sick without receiving his medicine.

If you have any info please reach us at: 917-602-3160 or 732-614-2766

Please please please let us know if you have any idea of where he is. He is very loved, very sweet and we would be beyond grateful and provide a REWARD if you are able to help us find him.

FIPS CARES: Dogz Up For Adoption

That's right, sometimes we care, and we're not ashamed to admit it. I came across TWO great puppies from two separate families who have to give their pooches up because of change in their living situations. Just so happens they both have a little Lab in them!

The brown hairball of cuteness is Knut. He is a 4 year old Lab/Pit mix. He's a real sweetheart, who loves other dogs and kids, but ain't so hot on cats. Knut has been living on a farm for the last few years; his fam just relocated to Brooklyn and now they have to give him up... So they're looking to find a new loving home for Knut. If you know anyone who can help, e-mail Michael at michaeldolannyc-at-gmail-dot-com.

Now, if none of you bitchz has ever known the singular joy of owning an older dog, you have been MISSING OUT. Meet Luca, a sweet 8-year-old Lab mix who lives with a family on Roosevelt Island. In his aged wisdom, Luca is great with kids, people and dogs. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines. Obvs it's very hard for the family to let Luca go (I mean, dude's MICROCHIPPED, ppl!), but their child has severe allergies. I have a spesh place in my heart for the older dogs, since I know how grateful they are for a place to just chill out and be loved (but mostly chill out!) If interested or have any questions and would like to meet Luca, you should email at Susan at sarcelay-at-verizon-dot-net

Let's do something to help these pooches! Why should you give a shit? Cuz we may be helping your ass next.
