Moutarde Makes L Mag's List of BK Bars Featured on the Big Screen

Photo via L MagazineL Magazine recently put together a list of 10 Brooklyn Bars that have appeared on the big screen. Park Slope was only mentioned once -- 5th Avenue's Moutarde doubled for a Paris bistro in Julie & Julia -- but that's OK, because the scene featured the inimitable talents of Meryl Streep and Jane Lynch, whose presence in our fine 'hood alone makes up for it.

You can check out the top 25 here (but only if you get the DVD package. Sorry, streamers). FiPS Cares: Let's Help These BK Filmmakers Raise Money For Slamdance!

The people of Park Slope love nothing more than to get all caught up in pet drama. Remember back in November when a man tied his dog up outside of a Radio Shack for a few minutes, and then some woman stole it because she thought it needed rescuing?’

Imagine a run-in like that sparking an unlikely friendship, which ultimately leads to a movie!

This is exactly what happened to filmmaker Keith Miller, who once found a lost dog in South Park Slope. After a few months of caring for it, he ran into a man on the street named Shannon Harper, who turned out to be the dog's owner. After the two men argued over the pup in question, Keith offered to buy the dog, then asked Harper if he wanted to be in a movie.

There's Carnage in Park Slope

Do you hope and dream for a movie that will unite Park Slope Breeders and Ballers together in a fit of mutual hatred towards parents and kids? Because it's TOTALLY HAPPENING, people.

Roman Polansky’s new film Carnage tells the story of the Longstreets and the Cowans, two couples who gather in a Park Slope brownstone as they search for a resolution to their kiddos' recent fistfight at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. The encounter quickly falls apart as characters struggle to ascertain who is to blame for an assault that left one child with a loose tooth and a busted lip. So, basically it's 3 full hours of middle aged yuppies talking about the fruit of their looms in a fancy apartment.

Sounds...totally unwatchable.
