Time Travel Back to the 90's at New Cigar Lounge in Prospect Heights

Forget bumming a smoke after a game at Barclays stadium. The Blue Smoke Cigar Lounge just opened up its stinky doors to the neighborhood's stogie toting finest, as reported in the Brownstoner. Located at 593 Washington Avenue, between Dean and Pacific streets, this lounge is strictly BYO cigars. Only way to get around those pesky city smoking laws, folks. So put on your best smoking jacket, grab your Cubans and head over before this place goes up in smoke. Because, let's be real, there is no way a cigar bar is gonna last long in this part of Brooklyn, am I right?

[Review'd]: David's Tea on 7th Avenue

Guys, it's freezing outside, and there are only so many soy lattes you can drink before your eyes stop blinking all together. Luckily, there's a new place in town to warm your cockles with a spot of tea. David's Tea on the corner of 7th Avenue and 4th Street offers a plethora of tea options served hot or cold for $3 flat.

Though there is a place to sit and drink your tea inside the store, David's Tea is really more for enjoying at home. Their meager lounge area leaves much to be desired, like comfy chairs and tasty tea sandwiches. On the plus side though, the corner window view is great for people watching.

Via Washingtonpost.comDon't wait 'til Halloween night to slather on some self-tanner, fill up a baby bottle with tequila and hope to pass as "Snookie's baby." There's no excuse for lame last minute costumes, because just like last year, we here at FiPS hit up a couple of Park Slope's vintage shops for fun costume ideas that should get your creative juices flowing well before the 31st of October. Plus, what's better than a one-of-kind outfit to stand apart from the sea of sexy crayons, amirite?

5 Questions with Dan Wilbur, Neighborhood Literary Nerd

In between taking daily requests for 50 Shades of Grey while working the counter at Park Slope's Community Bookstore, doing stand-up comedy sets, and playing countless hours of Madden and Dr. Mario, comedian Dan Wilbur has written a book.

Dan, a Kensington resident, recently published How Not To Read: Harnessing the Power of a Literature-Free Life based on Better Book Titles, his comedy blog about photoshopped book covers. The subject is a touchy one for Dan; his love for literature is derailed by his video games addiction, and he makes a living peddling hardbacks to Park Slope's residing authors. As of last Tuesday, Dan is now part of this elitest group with a tongue-in-cheek how-to on getting by without reading. His own book is currently on display at Community, where he offers customized book covers with purchase. We caught up Dan to find out more about his book and why the book store employee is empowering people to never read.
