Here's Some Apartment Porn for the Vitamin D crowd

Photo via The Brownstoner

You know that tiny sliver of sunlight that spills into your apartment in the late afternoon? You know, the one that your landlord describes as "sun-drenched," and charges you an extra $400 in rent to experience? Well, if you can handle the jealousy of a high dose of Vitamin D, check out the light-filled layout of this Park Slope beauty.

Your FiPS Guide To Surviving a Spin Class

Photo: Flywheelfit.com

Stop scurrying by the group fitness room at your gym -- it's time to take a spin class! I promise you, the vigorous workout isn't as intimidating as it sounds. For an average burn of 500 calories, you get a 60-minute cardio workout with low impact on your knees and minor hand-eye coordination skills (which if you're like me - is necessary.) It's pretty much like riding a bike, minus the hassle of the Prospect Park West bike lane and the police crackdown on inner park speeding.

There are three basic positions for riding in a spin class.

Get your craft on at Etsy Labs

On March 8th, Etsy Labs is hosting Hands-On: Drawing with two (free!) drawing sessions. It will be just like the Dumbo of yesteryear before the Walentas got ahold of it.

We have to hand it to Chadwick Matlin for live tweeting the black hole that is the Park Slope Food Co-op's monthly meeting this past Tuesday night. You can read for yourself the tweeted progression of how Matlin, senior editor of Reuters Opinion, ends up lying on the floor during a heated discussion about banning plastic bags and mandatory shopping cart usage.

Now, we here at FiPS always poke fun at the culty manner of the Co-op and it's righteous members,  but always from the outside looking in. None of the FiPS writers are actually Park Slope Co-op members. Getting a firsthand account of the irrational behavior in the monthly meetings is so satisfying. It's like having one's (organic) cake and eating it too. Here are a few more precious gems:

STUPID CUPID: Profile of the brainy editor with a Patrón habit

February ends today, and we're going out with a little something extra for you singles on Leap Day. Check out Rebecca, the PhD-toting science journal editor who resides in the South Slope. On a Friday night, you're most likely to catch Rebecca slumped on her couch wishing for more Downton Abbey to watch, or drinking Jameson with friends somewhere divey.

We asked Rebecca to sell us on her favorite dive bar and she said:
