Park Slope Has Its Own School Of Rock

Photo via Park Slope Rock School

Did your kid grow up banging on pots and pans? Constantly strumming an air guitar in the car? Well, it’s time for you to hone those musical instincts into a skill set and possibly make some money off of your soon-to-be-famous kid by enrolling them in Park Slope Rock School. They accept 8-16 year olds and the next semester starts September 17th, so get to it!

Via Park Slope Rock School:

Park Slope Rock School, one of Brooklyn’s fastest growing and most popular independent music programs, will begin its fall semester on September 17th.  Rated one of the “best rock music classes in NYC” by Time Out New York, PSRS continues to be an active member of the education and music communities in Brooklyn.  This semester, we’re excited to introduce new additions to the curriculum, including an increased emphasis on original songwriting and recording.  At the end of the semester, our students will record their original music at Bunker Studios, a professional studio in Brooklyn. Proceeds from the sale of their recordings will be contributed to a local charity of their choice, giving the students an opportunity to give back to their community through music.

Still not convinced? Have a listen to last semester’s students.

I hope there will be unannounced Jack Black pop-ins.

The coffee shop formerly known as Ozzie's (that was a failed Prince reference)

Still in tears over Ozzie’s Coffee on 7th ave closing down? Not to worry, my dear Park Slopers, because they will be reopening down the block where La Taqueria used to be! It will no longer be called Ozzie’s, which is OK because it’s only a mere block away from the old location. You can still use muscle memory to get in the general vicinity without too much trouble. Added bonus: rumor has it that the owner is planning on adding beer and wine to the menu!

Yo. Any of you guys hear of this weekly ‘look inside the sex lives of our fellow New Yorkers’ thing that NY Mag has going? Well, if you haven’t, today is your lucky day. This week’s particular gem came from a 26-year-old, Research Associate from our very own Park Slope. She’s single/casually dating and according to her seven-day recap of her week-o’-fuckin’-two-different-dudes, she didn’t change the sheets!

Brooklyn Resident Says Brooklyn Is For Losers

Photo via michaelgholmes.com

New York Post columnist and BK RESIDENT Andrea Peyser thinks that Brooklyn is a place for losers who have failed to make it in Manhattan. She says people who claim to live in Brooklyn “by choice” are just covering for the fact that they can’t afford Manhattan ('Cause Brooklyn's cheap as shit, right?). A friend of Peyser's even refers to people who live outside of Manhattan as being "geographically challenged."

SAY WHAT?!
