Woman robbed at gunpoint at 7th Ave. Chase ATM (Allegedly)

I was just at the Chase Bank on 7th Ave and Carroll Street. I was standing near the entrance, waiting for someone to take me down to my safe deposit box, when a woman moved past me and shakily said to the bank greeter, "a woman just held me up at gunpoint for $1000." As in, she was standing at one of the lobby ATMs and a woman went up to her with a gun and made her withdraw $1000 from her account. At 2:30 p.m. Bank filled with people. Broad daylight. So. Fucked. Up.

What You Should Order At...Blueprint (Cocktail Edition!)

WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER AT... is a recurring column designed in kind for your opinionated asses and our lazy asses.  We're going to pick one Park Slope resto a week and recommend our favorite dish at each.  Are we right?  Are we wrong?  YOU KNOW YOU WANNA WEIGH IN.

The cocktail bars keep popping up in the Slope but by far my personal favorite is still always Blueprint. Consistently excellent libations, delicious snacks, and an incredible staff complete with hot Aussie bartender (Hi Andy!).

I’ve have ashamedly tried 80% of the cocktails on the Blueprint menu, so I thought I’d share a couple favorite selections with you that are sure to please even the most discerning of palates.

[FIPS Was There...] @DadBoner and Friends at The Bell House

Image via Amazon.comThis whole thing is for good people like you who "get it." It's all fun. I like fun. I like shit like Transformers movies and wrestling. And Chili's. And people who aren't too good for shit that's just fun for fun's sake. I surround myself with them. It makes for a happy life.

- Mike Burns - Creator of Dad Boner during an AMA on Reddit this week

Sometimes we -- not just you, I'm including myself here -- yes, we here in Brooklyn get too caught up with what's new and cool. Or, ironically cool. Just cool. However, sometimes I find movies or music or books I'm supposed to like for their artistic value or influence on modern media or to impress women...to be boring. Bon Iver or Moby Dick or a Darren Aronofsky film. I'd rather get dropped in a dunk tank of my brother's spunk. I let people think I'm a cool writer artist, they don't click the links, but I actually spend my work day watching Macho Man promos and Big Country videos.

Cool or Not Cool: Beating the heat in the Prospect Park lake

It's too darn hot! And people are choosing some interesting ways to cool off when they are out and about in New York City. From today's New York Post

Alexis Tennesse, 21, a baker from Lefferts Garden, spent the day with her boyfriend enjoying the water wherever they could, including the fountain at Grand Army Plaza and the Prospect Park lake.

Am I crazy or is that kind of gross? I mean, I'm sure it's cleaner than the Gowanus, but...

Organic Panic: No Not A Shortage of Kale, But a Plethora of Good Gaming

For all you gaming nerds out there in the 'hood, you may be happy to know that a whole team of Park Slopers is hard at work on developing a pretty awesome video game. It's called Organic Panic and its description makes me sorta happy: "Meat & Cheese battle Fruit & Veg in a quirky physics puzzler featuring real fluids, totally destructible levels, real fire, and an in-game editor to build and share your own levels!" Real fluids you say?

The Park Slope influence is felt full tilt as organic fruit and vegetables battle evil animal-based food products in a battle of "mind-bending puzzles" and advanced physics. That's right, fruits and vegetables, once the low-lifes of our food pyramid and the bane of every child's existence, are no longer the wilty heroes of a Coop member's affection, but total fighting bad asses. Oh, did I mention the game will give players the chance to actually create, build and share their own levels? Yes, actually I did mention that above, but how frickin' awesome is that? Also for extra special nerdery, there is also a cool comic component drawn by Park Slope artist extraordinaire Brad Johansen.
