Jay-Z Rode The R Train To His Own Concert

For his final, first-round concert at The Barclays Center this past Saturday, Jay-Z got to the venue the way most people probably did: he took public transportation. Mr. Knowles rode the R train, replete with a team of security guards, from Canal to Atlantic. My guess is that the traffic was so backed up going over the bridge by people trying to get to the concert that this was the quickest way for J to get there on time.

(I love the woman he sits down next to on the train at the 1:04 mark, who clearly has no idea who he is.)

DO NOT EVEN *THINK* ABOUT STEALING DEODORANT FROM RITE AID

video by @ninedaves

Public Service Announcement for all you shoplifters in Park Slope: feel free to steal anything you'd like from Rite- Aid on 7th Ave, EXCEPT deoderant. That's right: those $2 or $3 dollar sticks of deo are officially off-limits to all you Winona Ryder wannabees.

Why, you might be wondering?

Patrick Stewart Fills In For John Oliver on The Daily Show

In light of the recent NFL ref strike, The Daily Show's own correspondents have also "gone on strike" and have therefore "been replaced" by actors of a much higher caliber. Last night, Patrick Stewart, the Slope's own newest celebrity resident, filled in for senior correspondent John Oliver. Never before has sports news been reported in such a beautifully theatrical way.

Prank Calling the Park Slope Food Coop (And Other Joints)

We've made fun of the Park Slope Food Coop, laughed at Daily Show vids about the Park Slope Food Coop, live tweeted general meetings of the Park Slope Food Coop, and sympathized with members who lock their fellow workers in at the Park Slope Food Coop so that they can get home to watch an ep of Castle. But, oddly, it's never occurred to us to prank call the Park Slope Food Coop.

But not so for this dude.

Ladies and Gentleman, I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite human being: Eddie Going.

[Video]: John Hodgman almost invested in Talde

Park Slope's resident humorist and classy mustache possessor John Hodgman was thisclose to investing in Talde, you guys. Actor Justin Long, the Mac to Hodgman's PC, initially proposed the idea to invest in Dale Talde's casual Asian-American restaurant located on 7th Avenue and 11th Street, which serves the best pad thai I've had in this neighborhood (it's the crispy oysters that do it for me). Ultimately both men decided not to invest, and despite Talde's raging success, you can't really blame them since, as Hodgman points out, only 20% of restaurants actually succeed (the Talde talk starts around the 1:43 mark).
