The 7th Ave Turnstiles Still Suck

Back in April a bunch of people (mostly us) were bitching about the 7th Avenue F/G train turnstiles and their inability to function properly. FiPS reader Steve even sat down and constructed a nice little note to the MTA, and they were like, "Thanks, Steve. The turnstiles just need to be cleaned. WE'RE ON IT." I don't ride the F or G much, but Steve does, and recently wrote to let us know that this is still an issue. He reached out to the MTA uh-gain:

WHO GIVES A SHIT: Do You Hate Traveling To The Motherfucking Suburbs As Much As I Do?

I'm gonna go out on limb here and make some predictions:

• Many of you have relatives that live in Connecticut, New Jersey, or Long Island.
• These relatives want you to come and visit them ALL THE MOTHER HUMPIN TIME
• These relatives also think that it's no biggie to come visit them ALL THE MOTHER HUMPIN TIME cause there are "easy" public transportation choices available to you! Yay! Take a train! Take a bus! Take the subway, to the train, to a bus, to a car!

Here's the thing, suburban ppl: most of the time, these trips are a TOTAL FUCKING NIGHTMARE.

The Nevins Street Hotspot

For those of you who regularly ride the 2/3 train, I KNOW you know what I'm talkin about: upon pulling into Nevins Street subway station, you have approx 30 seconds to 1 minute of a 4 bar, full throttle, bangin cell phone connection (at least with AT&T). It's like magic, right?

COOL OR NOT COOL: TAKING A SHOWER ON THE SUBWAY?

You know how you wake up every morn, jerk off, and then just walk on over to your bathroom to take a shower? Perhaps you gaze out the window of your lovely Park Slope apt on the way, admiring the leafy streets below? Or stop off in the kitchen and brew yourself a quick cup of coffee in the Keurig? But then its showertime.

And sure, your water pressure sucks a dick, and your drain is clogged with hair like 78% of the time, but STILL: you have a shower and you have a bathroom. You are winning.

Not so much for this chick, I'm afraid. Though, goddammit is she resourceful.

UPDATE: The MTA Is Like, Fixing the Turnstiles or Something! Or Something.

On Monday, I bitched about the turnstiles at the 7th Avenue F/G stop being an inconsistent piece of crap. And wheee! You agreed that there's an ish here that's not just in my whacked-out head. So, FIPS reader Steve (you go, Steve!) decided to take action and write the Ye Olde MTA about the sitch:

Why are the 2 turnstiles (they are the big ones that are like human cages) always problematic when it comes to swiping? The lines back up and everyone gets frustrated because they do not read cards well at all - can something be done about this? I have seen the cleaner there, but it rarely improves the swipe. C'mon, I now pay 104 bucks a month, last thing I want is to have more delays because of poor equipment.
