Count Metromix's Hot Plates Live as another successful tasting event at the Bell House

Featuring small bites (or, if we were in an episode of Top Chef, "amuse bouches") from 11 local restaurants, and four beers (Can I have four beers?) served in dixie cups (though, let's face it: I probably wouldn't be happy unless I was served beer in gallon jugs), alongside a cheese plate, the event space at the Bell House was crowded but not obnoxious at the Metromix Hot Plates Live shindig.

HOW'S THAT FOR A RUN-ON SENTENCE? Suck it, bitchez, I've got some food to write about.

BALLER ALERT: BK MEATUP!

Remember that post we did a few weeks ago about where all the single, unattached Park Slope guys were hiding? Well that mofo is still gettin comments--which led us to believe that there were quite a few BALLERS out there looking to get their groove on with no place to groove and no one to groove with. And as you all know, FIPS CARES! Sooooo, we've teamed up with the two other baddest ass BK blogs on the block, Brokelyn and Brooklyn Based (ok not *quite* a blog, but you get my drift) to bring you the first official BK Meatup!

WTF is a meatup? (you might be wondering...). Well, its like a meat market + a meetup = a Meatup!

Kegs & Cluckers: Camp Out in NYC This Weekend

Normally, the mere suggestion of a camping trip would be enough to end our friendship on the spot.

But this shit going down at the Queens County Farm this weekend actually sounds like, dare I say it, fun:

"Come spend Labor Day at the Queens County Farm Museum.  Camp out in the orchard, eat a down home dinner of smoked chicken, pickles, baked beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, pie, and more from Sweet Deliverance.

Brooklyn Brewery will provide their Autumnal offerings, Oktoberfest and Post Road Pumpkin Ale, in addition to the tried and true Brooklyn Lager. Your $80 ticket covers the cost of beer for the whole night. And wake up the next morning to Bloody Mary's, biscuits, fritattas and coffee."

You can even rent a tent ahead of time at Tent Trails in Manhattan if you're not all outdoorsy-n-shit and don't have your own.
