Fancy in Park Slope: We're Getting A Hat Store!

Photo via Goorin BrothersWho says Park Slope lacks fanciness and style?

Well, usually me.

If you're a fancy hat-loving person, you'll be happy to hear that San Francisco-based hat company, Goorin Brothers, is coming to our fair neighborhood this Fall!

Goorin Brothers has been crafting hats since 1895 and from the looks of their site, are pretty stoked to be opening up two NY-based shops: one in the Slope and the other in the West Village on Bleecker.

Here’s their explanation on why they picked Park Slope as one of their two new locations in NY:

“Neighborhood dedication is a mission that we here at Goorin are passionate about. The Park Slope district of Brooklyn, New York is known for its architectural and historical features, along with its diverse mix of residents and local businesses, all of which are supported and preserved by its active and involved citizens. So it made sense for us to open shop in a community that promotes neighborhood gathering spaces such as farmer’s markets, and community gardens, all perfect locations to don your own Goorin original.”

One thing I appreciate about Goorin Brothers is their mission of using art as inspiration for design. Not only are they inspired by and appreciative of local art, but they actually invest in the artistic community around San Francisco. You can read more about it on their blog

I can see Slopers loving the majority of their line, especially catering to the ever-growing affinity for winter headgear in NYC…although there are a few Ed Hardy-looking pieces that they may want to leave on the West Coast.

The Goorin Brothers will be setting up shop at 195 5th Ave between Union and Berkeley.
