[MADE IN BK] With Love, From Brooklyn Baskets

We all know that Brooklyn is HIP.  At least, that's what I tell myself when I write out my rent check each month for $352897454.  Because Brooklyn is "hip," it's filled with a lot of creative douchebags, which means that there's a ton of locally-made products (complete with impeccably designed, drool-worthy packaging) out there.

With Love, From Brooklyn was started to help bundle all of these local products together, creating awesome gift baskets for everyone from Brooklyn snobs to obnoxious foodies.

[MADE IN BK] Brooklyn Bits Tote Bags

In a neighborhood where shopkeepers look at you like you are single-handedly destroying the planet when you ask for a plastic bag, having an arsenal of tote bags is a must.  And they just don't carry your shit—your choice of tote bag says a lot about you.  Your tote bag says where you shop, what you buy, and who you're listening to on your iPod.  Your tote bag says what your tattoo would say if you had the courage to get one.

I, for example, have an estimated 700 totebags shoved in the slot between my kitchen wall and my refrigerator, and I bet you do too.  So why not buy one more?

Brooklyn Bits creates these awesome tote bags ($12) featuring different Brooklyn neighborhoods (Park Slope, DUMBO, Williamsburg, Coney Island, Brooklyn Heights, and Prospect Heights).  They come in a bunch of different colors and are a great way to encourage neighborhood snobbery and class warfare.

FIPS Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Oh fuck, it's almost Valentine's Day and you have no idea what you're supposed to get for the love of your life.  Newsflash: you're pathetic.  Don't you think you should know what to buy the person you spend all of your free time with?  This is the person who sees you naked and holds you when you cry when you're drunk like a little baby, for Christ's sake.

FINE.  You're not alone.  None of us know what to get our significant others, either.  So, we've put together three choose-your-own adventure gift guides, featuring items you can pick up in the neighborhood (you know, on your way home from work on February 14).

CHECK IT OUT: BOTTLED BROOKLYN

In a city where 8 million people fight and claw and scratch for their God-given right for their very own 50 square feet of living space, it's no wonder that everyone aspires to have their own piece of The City That Never Sleeps/Shuts Up/Relents.

Lucky for all of us, Bottled Brooklyn has come up with a way everyone can have their own piece of the city without breaking any property laws.  They sell premade, presealed tubes filled with "pieces of Brooklyn," a gift that's perfect for people who like sentimental gifts, but aren't willing to actually be sentimental themselves and hand-craft a gift on their own.

Read more about them on You're Welcome (and psst: they also have tubes the other, less worthy boroughs.  I wonder how well the Staten Island tubes are selling?).

PARK SLOPE AFTER DARK

Image via Park Slope Lens

Who says that Park Slope is a boring family neighborhood that collectively goes to bed at 9pm after a warm glass of soy milk?

Oh yeah, everyone.

Well, up yours, everyone!

This week's Time Out New York features a rundown of the best late night spots and services and Park Slope is all over that shit.
