Privacy Is Dead "Installations" Popping Up in Park Slope
Privacy is dead, people! And some very creative person/people want(s) us all to know this. I came upon this little graveyard scene at the corner of Union Street and 7th Avenue yesterday afternoon. Several small kids were fascinated and asking questions like "who died, Mommy?" and "was it a cat?" I checked out the hashtag on Twitter, and found posts with images of similar scenes from Prospect Park and other parts of the Slope, as well as Williamsburg.
My favorite Park Slope… Celebrity Sighting
Patrick Stewart lives in Park Slope and has the most adorable Twitter page ever. Steve Buscemi lives here too and he's like some kind of 9/11 hero. Unfortunately I've never actually seen them in Park Slope. I bumped into Horatio Sanz in a Park Slope subway station once. He lost a lot of weight and I really liked his shoes. I also did a shot of whiskey with a famous comedian at Union Hall. He was a prince even if we Never Ever Get Back Together I'll cherish our time together. Very recently I was at Black Sheep Pub with an FX leading man. He was pounding whiskey and Guinness very quickly. I'm not sure if he was Mean but I was concerned. I'm getting off track. Let me Begin Again. My all time favorite Park Slope celebrity sighting was my first one. It's kind of a Love Story.
Cool or Not Cool: Driving A Golf Cart Through The Streets of Park Slope
Everyone loves driving golf carts but that doesn’t mean golf carts should be driven everywhere. For instance, they probably should not be driven on 6th Ave. But FiPS reader Bruno sent along some pictures showing a genius couple doing just that.
They drove along 6th Ave, ultimately making a right onto 9th Street. The cart puttered along the avenue, the woman in the passenger’s seat on the phone, seemingly giving directions. Apparently those directions didn’t include “stay out of the bike lane,” which they proceeded to drive along... in the wrong direction.
de Blasio Says Yes! Yes! A Thousand Time Yes... To His Barista
Say what you will about our Mayor, he loves the people in his hood soooooo much he'll even officiate their weddings. As reported by the house that Alexander Hamilton built in 1801, Mayor de Blaz presided over the marriage of his favorite Slope barista, Edouard Houilliez from Patisserie Colson on 9th Street.
As the story goes, de Blasio frequents Colson after his morning workout at the Prospect Park YMCA where he orders a coffee and an oatmeal or chocolate chip cookie (way to blow all the good work you just did at the gym Mr. Mayor). And when Bill walks in all sweaty and pumped from his zumba class (conjecture) it's Houilliez who's all ready to serve him a piping hot... wait, what is it he orders? "He was into espresso for a while, and then he switched to macchiato." A macchiato being something Houilliez could really get behind, because, it's "even more interesting and a challenge to make." Now that's a man who loves his job.
