Curtains For Local Chihuahua?

Saw this flyer on a pole near the 9th st entrance to Prospect Park. Did anyone out there rescue this poor pup before he licked his cute little Chihuahua balls for the last time? Have you spotted a dachsund or Shih-tzu roaming around causing doggie havoc?

Prospect Heights Is The Next Big Thing. Wow. Pure Wow.

Have you heard of PureWow.com? It's a relatively new-ish women's lifestyle website covering fashion, beauty, food and travel, culture, etc., with national local editions. So, basically, Daily Candy redux. I don't know how I ended up getting their NYC newsletter, but one of the latest highlights Prospect Heights as the "Next Big Thing."

FIPS CARES: Help a FIPS Writer Find a Place To Live

Wanted! A sublet. A room. Those Japanese sleeping drawers from Seinfeld.

About me: I'm a quiet masturbator. Was born without a sense of smell. I've got a cute little joke I do about it. "I can't smell but I sure can stink." Then I cut a fart or whatever. Nothing too juicy though. Nobody has ever laughed at it. Maybe you'll be the first! I'm single, don't smoke and don't have pets. Although I do love dogs. I cook but make sure to clean my dishes. I'm a TV writer during the day and a FIPS writer at night.

Whassup: Last BRIC in the Summer Edition

via theymightbegiants.com

It's a week of lasts, y'all. Celebrate Brooklyn hosts the last shows of its summer season in the park this week (see below). And Bar 4 hosts the last of its shows forever (SEE BELOW). Do you see how nothing lasts?! Do you see how you can't just put it off 'til next week!? Go that show! Eat at that restaurant! Seize the moment, don't end up like this guy! Okay, pep talk over. Welcome to Whassup: Last BRIC in the Summer Edition:

* OPEN NOW: Pavilion Living Room Cafe: Over the years, FiPS has had, ahem, a few things to say about the Pavilion movie theater. But here's a positive: this month, the movie theater opened the "Living Room Cafe," which is apparently a reincarnation of a cafe in that same space from some years ago. Anyway, it's a step up in movie fare from the usual oily popcorn and sticky Mike and Hots or whatever. The menu boasts milkshakes, sandwiches and crepes, most under ten bucks.

* Thursday, Aug. 8: Cringe, Freddy's: After a two-month absence, Freddy's original, brilliant series of mortifying teenage scribblings returns. Come cry/laugh with joy/terror. 7:30pm-9:30pm, FREE.

Police Nab (First Ever?) Prospect Park Ice Pick Bandit!

Fear no more, dog lover of Park Slope, your goldendoodles can run off-leash without fear in Prospect Park again. Police arrested 42-year-old Flatbush resident Donnell Barden earlier this week, on charges of aggravated animal cruelty, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. Barden’s weapon of choice? An ice pick.

The trouble started back in May when police received claims Barden stabbed a dog who was fighting with his dog in Prospect Park. For good measure, Barden then hit the dog’s owner and set out on a full-on ice pick assault, intimidating a slew of dogs with his frosty weapon. A few months and a bunch of homemade “WANTED” signs later, courtesy of a concerned/freaked out Park Slope resident who witnessed the bath-saltesque rampage, and police decided it was time to put an end to the Ice Pick Bandit.
