8 Balling a Baller's Paradise: Amex Presale for Barclay Center Announced

Barclay Center 8 Ball
According to BumperShine, American Express is having a pre-sale for an All-Access Pass to the Nets 2012-2013 season in their new stadium, the Barclay Center (or as I like to call it: the giant steel shit Bruce Ratner took on us all). And there is an actual date! September 28, 2012!

Just look at these frightening renderings. Don't you love all those life-like weird looking people superimposed over computer images of what looks like the cafe at Ikea redone 5 different ways? On what planet does any of this look appealing? And all for the Nets? Really, the Nets? I was born and raised in NJ and I moved to Brooklyn to run away from the embarrassment of Jersey disasters like the Nets and big hair. Why don't we just build a stadium for bed bugs? At least they're good at what they do.

BREAKING: Dumplings & Things is OPEN

IMAGE VIA @DYEPRETTY

So that new dumpling joint, Dumplings & Things, on 5th Ave between 5th and 6th is officially open!

From Brooklynian:

Dumplings and Things opened today in the old "XXX Reis" (kitchen reis, taqueria reis) space next to Bar Reis. I stopped in on my way home from work and I am SO happy these guys are part of the neighborhood.
By the time I got there they were out of a lot of stuff (today being their first day) including the Baos which I am excited to try. I got an order of 5 fried beef and kimchee dumplings for under $2.75 after tax. The girl at the counter was really sweet and the kitchen staff seemed nice too. The dumplings were great- plump and flavorful, and larger than most at this price. They will be open till at least 10pm every day. I am SUPER excited to try their other menu items, especially a porkbelly bao (for $2!)

Highly recommended. See their menu here.

Anyone else tried the dumps yet?

HERE'S PARK SLOPE: Food, Glorious Food!

IMAGE VIA HERE'S PARK SLOPE

Happy May, my friends! On Monday I reported that Ha Noi, the neighborhood's first full-on Vietnamese restaurant, had opened its doors over the weekend. It's got a huge menu, and so far it seems promising. Old man bar Jackie's Fifth Amendment also re-opened to the public after being closed for a couple weeks post-DOH inspection.

On Tuesday I staked my claim that the month of April 2011 was the best month for foodies in the history of the neighborhood. Just look at that list of new dining options!

RUMOR: Belgian Fries Joint Coming To The Slope?

IMAGE VIA PARK SLOPE LENS

So, uhm, this rumor is actually being started by us, and is solely based on the photo above which was snapped on the SW corner of 6th Ave and 12th street. But I mean, that clearly looks like a duck or a goose or something, and the bird is definitely holiding a cone of pommes frites in his hands. I mean right??
