BREAKING: Old Blockbuster on Flatbush to be a Toys 'R' Us Express

A tip from Ms. I Swear I'm on a Blog Vacation herself: The old Blockbuster Video location on Flatbush Avenue is turning into a Toys 'R' Us Express.  Apparently, they're already stocking the shelves.

Besides the fact that this is only going to make that strip of Flatbush incredibly uglier, the real question at hand is this: What the hell is a Toys 'R' Us Express?  Is this like a Park Slope-tailored expedited buy-another-fucking-gift-for-another-fucking-baby-shower service?  Because if it is and it'll save us all hours, I'll forgive the fact that isn't another Franny's.

BREAKING: Fresh Direct Has Got Bigger Problems Than Idling Trucks [ACCIDENT ON UNION & 8TH AVE]

Yowza.

A Fresh Direct Truck smashed the shit out of a Pathfinder last night on the corner of Union and 8th Ave.

First of all, let it be said that the corner is a total fucking menace. I'm not sure what goes on there, or why its so prone for having accidents happen there, but it sooooo is.

Last night at around 10:30pm, Greg came running up from his basketball game with a directive for me to get down to the street pronto. He swore that a Fresh Direct truck, not moments before had plowed into a Pathfinder (and the 5 cars in front of it) and that if I cared at all about journalism, or my neighborhood, or any of you bitches, I would go. I grabbed my camera (braless, ppl! That's how *much* I CARE!) and ran down to snap some photos.

[UPDATE] So, I Guess You Just Don't Get Your Mail Anymore If You Live In South Slope?

UPDATE: OK, So Amanda wanted to get back in on the "you've got mail...or not" sitch and she sent along the some detailed instructions on what to do if yo mail is getting jacked (we've included them at the end of the post).

Though I was certainly entertained by Amanda's post on how she hasn't been getting her mail for the past week, I was guessing she had a nosy neighbor, an annoying landlord who was throwing shit out, or maybe even a light week for bills.

I mean, over here in the N. Slope, I've been getting my mail fine every damn day.

But here's the thing: *lots* of you bitches have been leaving comments on that post and it sounds like NONE of your asses out there in the South Slope are getting your mail!? And that this wouldn't be the first time this has happened!

I mean WTF??

Another Fire In Park Slope [12th Street btwn 5th & 6th]

Yikes. Received this tip from a FIPS reader last night who describes another residential fire that went down in the Slope:

I'm not normally a rubbernecker, but the house right near my apartment building was on fire and I just watched FDNY put it out from my window.

First, I hope everyone is ok (didn't see any ambulances, but my view is partially blocked - did see folks in their PJs outside).

Second, but no less important, just wanted to remind everyone how awesome FDNY and NYPD are.  Whether you're fucked in Park Slope, or fucked anywhere else in the city, these guys (and gals) put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

I can't speak for the people in the burning house (but I certainly hope they agree) - I hope you guys just mention a big thank to all the brave people in the FDNY & NYPD.  Thanks!

ps - The Fire was on 12th street between 5th & 6th aves.

Word on the FDNY/NYPD Props! Anyone else have any more scoop on the fire?
