HANCO'S WANTS YOU TO DESIGN THEIR LOGO

So it looks like Park Slope's smelliest Vietnamese sandwich shop is having a little contest to find a new logo.

According to this hand-written note they posted in their window this weekend, they're offering $200 to any loyal customer or neighbor who submits a design.

Just remember: whatever logo you design will probably be completely copied by Henry's

BONNIE'S WINGS: THE BEST IN THE CITY?

Remember when I used to do "Buffalo Soldier Wing-Offs?"  Wasn't that shit fun?

Why did I stop doing it?

Mainly because one of my main goals in life is not to weigh 600 lbs. like that guy on HEAVY (Have you guys WATCHED that show yet?  It is all kinds of crazy).

BUT: Serious Eats launched their own Buffalo Wing-Off, and they tried 15 places all over the city.

Who Gives A Shit: Aunt Suzie's Is A Mafia Hangout?

image via Grub Street

I missed the news segment last week that attempted to connect Park Slope eatery Aunt Suzie's with the mafia, so I don't have the details. However, I do know this: Aunt Suzie's is gross. I've been there twice, and twice the food has been screamingly mediocre.

So without any details or proof, I gotta say: it's not hard for me to believe that there is *some* sort of mafia connection with this joint, otherwise how the hell are they still in business?

Though, in truth: if I were asked to guess which spot in town is likeliest to be hooked in with the mafia, my answer would be Tonios times a million billion. I happen to love that place, however:

  • I never hear/see anyone discussiing Tonio's either online or off.
  • Anytime we go there, it's pretty much totally empty.
  • All the waiters are always wearing dress shirts/bowties. Again, for a restaurant that is usually empty, it's pretty damn formal.
  • The owner always comes around to each table to say hello and shmooze a bit...JUST LIKE ARTIE BUCCO ON THE SOPRANOS.

Anyway, did anyone see the Aunt Suzie's story? What's the dealio?

BREAKING X 2: La Taqueria Closed For Good

If you are a restaurant in Park Slope and you are NOT shuttering your doors this week, you deserve a big fat congratulations and the number of my fave weed delivery service. Cause basically everyone and their brother is calling it quits.

So let's add La Taqueria, on 7th Avenue between Berkeley and Lincoln, to the sad, growing, closed restaurants list.

Read all about it on Here's Park Slope.

BREAKING: Willie's Dawgs Is Kaput

R.I.P. Willie's Dawgs. We just received the following release:

"Willie's is up for adoption," said owners Tom Anderson and Ellen Lutter. "It was a great four-year run and it's time to move on."

Named for their late dog, Willie's was known for great hot dogs and a devotion to pet adoption. Willie's raised money for such local stalwarts as Sean Casey Animal Rescue.

As for his plans, Anderson said "Relax. Maybe go to a Devils hockey game and get in some skiing. And either go back to my work in films and tv or open a new Willie's someday. Every 'dawg' has its day and we had many."

Well, this certainly puts a new spin on the Bark Delivery news, now doesn't it?

We'll miss you Willie's. You were our my second fave hot dog in Park Slope!

UPDATE: Willie's will be open until this Sunday, 1/23 so get your last lick dogs dawgs while you can.
