THE NOT-SO-GREAT GOOGAMOOGA

All right: did any of you dbags get Googamooga tickets? 

Some background: Googamooga is a new festival created by the folks at Bonnaroo that's happening right in our backyards in Prospect Park in May.  It fell flat on its face this afternoon when they tried to give away free tickets online via EventBrite.  As everyone was waiting in online lines to register for tickets, some were allowed to "register," only to have the site crash or serve up an error message.  An hour and a half before they opened up the registration at 12pm, they're saying tickets are sold out.  

Hey, here's an idea.  If you're going to call yourself "Great" in your event's title, you might want to make sure you've got everything covered before you launch.  Just a little suggestion between me and you, Googs.

Of course, everyone on Twitter is pissed and Googamooga and EventBrite are feebly doing damage control, but the system is only currently offering up waitlist spots.    

We've reached out to Googamooga to get the scoop, so we'll keep you posted. 

Personally, I've drawn two conclusions from this:

1. Googamooga's ticketing system is as stupid as its name.

2. You can go to Prospect Park anytime you want, except May 19 and 20. 

Did anyone actually get tickets to this thing, or what?

Columbia Student Describes Park Slope as "Not Intellectually Stimulating"

A writer for The Columbia Spectator recently penned a not-so-complimentary article about a day trip to Park Slope. The "somewhat worth it" adventure included a stroll past Café Grumpy and Brookvin, both of which are described as having "ridiculous signs." In the end, the writer concludes that, "If you’re looking for something intellectually stimulating, don’t go to Park Slope." Then she calls us a "medium-sized room full of kinda cool hipsters." 

A born and raised Park Slope resident caught wind of the article and wrote a lengthy, yet thoughtful response to these Ivy League allegegations of ridiculous signs and stupid hipsters.

Big, Fancy-Pants Horse Show Is Coming to Brooklyn (Um, Obvi)

Westminster, Brooklyn just bested your ass. Er, well, sort of.

The scoop is that the Gucci Masters horse competition--the creme-de-la-creme of show-jumping events (not that you didn't already know, duh)-- is coming to Brooklyn. To the currently non-existent Barclays Center, to be precise. With existing events in Paris and Hong Kong, the coordinators wanted to add one more venue, and naturally, they chose Brooklyn because of our culture and esteem.

Except, like, not. Or that's not what I gather from this Wall Street Journal article, which makes the whole decision sound like the Gucci Peeps chose Brooklyn because it's kinda hilarious and ironic, and those involved in the "glamour sport" need to, like, prove they've got a sense of humor or something.

DITMAS PARK COFFEE SHOP OWNER MISSING

Josh Rubin, owner of Whisk Bakery Cafe in Ditmas Park has been missing for over a week, according to police.  He was last seen leaving his Lawrence Avenue apartment on October 31. 

The Brooklyn Paper is stating that police are concerned about his mental state, citing that he may be depressed; they also state that he's under significant financial pressure due to the management of a new business.  Ditmas Park Blog has also been covering this case extensively.

The community is banding together to search for him; check the Find Josh Rubin Facebook Page for more information and how to get involved.
