BREAKING: Another Attempted Sexual Assault Went Down Last Night

This time it was on Prospect Ave between 4th and 5th Aves at around 9:30-9:45pm. From FIPS reader J:

"I thought you might want to alert the community: There was another sexual assault this evening in Park Slope, on Prospect Avenue between 4th and 5th avenues.  I was walking home from the R train at Prospect Avenue around 10:15 pm.  I came out of the train and there was a cop car and several detectives outside talking in a serious-looking manner.

Police Release New Video of a BK Attacker Suspect

Last night at a local safety meeting, police released a new video of one of the (possibly 3) suspected BK attackers. There's no mention of where the surveillance video was taken, but the date stamp reads 9/4/2011, so we can assume it probably came from the September 4th attack against a woman in Sunset Park. CBS NY reports that local residents attending the safety meeting called the cops out on their lack of responsiveness in these attacks until the community outrage came pouring in. Good for them. In response, police said that not only have the attacks "gotten the attention they deserve from the beginning," they've increased the number of officers on patrol, continue to hand out flyers and follow up on all leads they receive. Anyone know a Behavioral Science agent in Quantico? If we can get the real-life Criminal Minds team in here I guarantee they'll solve this shit in 52 minutes.  

 

Brooklyn Biker Group Patrols the Slope

Good news, Park Slope ladies! No, the attackers are still on the prowl. But now, we womenfolk can be escorted home after a late night by the Brooklyn Bike Patrol.

The bike escort service is now the third option available to solo lady walkers. New community group Safe Slope has been busy starting a Safe Walk program that pairs women with walking buddies and Safe Space which has local businesses provide shelter to anyone feeling unsafe on the street.

Guardian Angels Arrive in Park Slope

The Guardian Angels have arrived! The red beret-clad angels have taken to the streets of Park Slope and surrounding neighborhoods to pass out flyers and patrol both day and night until the attacker or attackers are caught.

BK May Have More Than One Attacker On The Loose: Third Suspect Sketch Released

Police just released the THIRD sketch of a man possibly responsible for attacking a woman in Sunset Park on September 4th. The man is described as 5'6", between the age of 28-32 and "muscular."

Deputy Inspector Raul Pintos of the 72nd Precinct tells the Brooklyn Paper that of the nearly dozen sexual attacks against women since March, we're likely looking at multiple suspects: “Now we believe there are two, maybe three individuals involved,” Pintos said. “After talking to victims, some of the descriptions seem to vary. The latest victims describe the suspect to be muscular, which was not the case before.”
