South Slope Woman Attacked Last Night: Cops Called But Never Show

2 police sketches have emerged of the suspect(s)

OK, people. I'm getting really pissed here. Another woman was attacked in South Slope last night, around 11:30PM. Her neighbors immediately called the cops and GUESS WHAT?! By 1AM they still had not arrived. I've followed up with our tipster to find out if the cops ever came or followed up, and who exactly was called (911, Crime Stoppers, etc..), and will post an update as soon as I hear back. Woman's Encounter With Possible BK Rapist Shrugged Off By Crime Stoppers

I REALLY hope that if some perv exposed himself to me on the F train, I'd be able to rely on Crime Stoppers to take down my account of the incident without coating it with listless responses and sarcasm. This is exactly what happened to FiPS reader "D," who recently sent us this email detailing such an incident:

Last week some pervert fully exposed himself to me on the F train --during the morning commute when there were a lot of people on the train.  It was 7:15 in the morning and I was way too tired to think fast enough to take his picture or anything like that.  I just got up and moved.

Then, to my horror, this weekend I saw a sign posted with the drawing of the park slope rapist and it looked exactly like the guy from the subway.  Yesterday I decided to call Crime Stoppers because it seemed like maybe I could provide some kind of useful information, like what the guy was wearing, what stop he got off on, anything.

Let me tell you, the detective I spoke to was horrible, sarcastic, and rude and it scares me that these are the people who are supposed to be catching this guy. Here’s how the conversation went:

Police Now Searching For 2 BK Attackers

Police say that the douche sack responsible for attacking a woman on 17th street and 7th ave before escaping in a beige SUV last weekend is not responsible for the other six attacks against women since March. Ladies, I know we're saying this over and over, but please PLEASE be careful at night. Have you signed the petition for free self defense classes yet? Petition Emerges For a Free Park Slope Self Defense Class

After a string of awful attacks on women in Brooklyn, a Park Slope resident has started a petition urging that a free self defense class be offered to women in the area. In this letter to Community Board 7 and Councilwoman Sara Gonzalez, PS resident Teresa Ish writes:

The recent attacks in our neighborhood are disturbing and disgusting, but rather than recommend that women carry rape whistles and find escorts to keep them safe, we should be empowering women to defend themselves.  I would like to request that a series of self defense classes be offered to women in our community in English, Spanish and Chinese.  While completing a self defense course in no way assures safety, peer reviewed studies show that physically and verbally fighting back is effective in preventing rapes by strangers. I have created a petition to gauge the community's interest in attending a course like this, and encourage the CB and Councilwoman Gonzalez to consider offering such a course while the police are completing their investigation.
