Playa/Cabana Bar 2.0?

Not sure if they're working on both the old Playa AND Cabana Bar space, or just the Cabana Bar space, and it's hard to make out who's coming in (though they do already have a liquor license).

Wickedspoon: New Fro Yo Joint To Open

Ok, so my love for Forty Carrots runs verrrry verrrry deep. I slum it at Yogo Monster every once in awhile because, hello...I have needs. But I'm srsly intrigued by this new fro yo place that's opening up this weekend, Wickedspoon.

Scheduled to open this Saturday, they're giving out free fro yo samples from noon to 3pm. Apparently this is going to be another Pinkberry-ish type place as their flavors are Original Tart, Pomegranate, Chocolate as well as a flavor-of-the-month. But more importantly they go beyond the basic flavors to offer shit like fro-yo-stuffed whoopie pies from WannaHavaCookie and fro-yo-topped Belgian waffles.

Needless to say, my fat ass will be stopping by.

Campo de' Fiori: It's Awn Like Donkey Kong

Fornino Shmornino...I'm moving on to Camp de'Fiori! It's a new pizza joint on 5th Ave that, according to a tip from our pals at Metromix, is opening today-ish.

This spot is gonna be run by former Del Posto manager Andrea Dal Monte, and is actually a sister restaurant to Rome's famous Forno Campo de' Fiori.

This is the line that got me from Metromix's write-up:

"We worked on our dough for 15 years," says Dal Monte, whose Italian partner is a "flour engineer" and member of the country's national Olympic baking team.

These bitches had me at "flour engineer."

PETCO COMING TO 7TH AVE

Pectco is apparently going into the old Zuzu's Petals spot on 7th Ave between Union & Berkeley.

Y'all know how much I hate the shit out of Beastly Bite, so this makes me verrry happy. Also, we get Oliver this Wellness Simple Solutions shit that Petco doesn't carry, so I'll keep ordering from you, NYC Pet! Don't you worry!

Ace Supermarket: "Turkey Pastrami and Vegan Cupcakes, Here We Come!??"

No clue if this shit is true, but just read this on Brooklynian:

"Was told that the Ace Supermarket at 7th and Berkeley place is nearly ready to undergo what sounds to be a pretty extensive renovation (think Union market-esque), complete with bakery, deli, etc. I think they may be taking over the space which used to be zuzu's petals next door. not sure..."

Whoa.

I hope this shit *is* true, though it will sting for me to have this place closed for renos as its pretty much my round the corner goto.
