The Grand Army Plaza Food Truck Rally is Here to Stay

Due to the success of the Food Truck Rallies held every third Sunday during the summer, the Prospect Park Alliance has decided to make food trucks a permanent fixture of Grand Army Plaza. According to DNAInfo.com, every Saturday this Fall, 4-6 food trucks will park around Bailey Fountain beneath the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch to serve up their exorbitantly-priced (yet delicious) eats. This is great news for anyone who spends the entire hour before lunch everyday trying to figure out which ones are parked within 5 blocks of their office. It’s also great news for people who don’t have office jobs because...well, just because.

[Fips Was There...] The Prospect Park Food Truck Rally

We here at FIPS spend a hell of a lot of time out and about in Brooklyn, attending outdoor concerts, comedy shows and various other events. So [FIPS Was There...] is where we're gonna' talk about all this shit.

It was hot and sticky this past Sunday as food trucks fired up their grills. This, of course, could only mean one thing: the Prospect Park Food Truck Rally is back in Grand Army Plaza for the season. From April through October, some of the city's most well-known trucks will gather on the third Sunday of every month (along with everyone else in Park Slope). I stopped by to sample a few goodies, which was totally worth braving the heat for.

[Fips Was There...] The Food Truck Vs. Brick & Mortar Debate!

New column alert! We here at FIPS spend a hell of a lot of time out and about in Brooklyn, attending outdoor concerts, comedy shows and various other events. So [FIPS Was There...] is where we're gonna' talk about all this shit.

This past Tuesday Gelf Magazine hosted their recurring Non-motivational Speaker series at the spacious Tea Lounge on Union. The theme of the evening - a hot button in this nabe as of lately - was Food Trucks and Restaurants: Can't We All Just Get Along? The panel included a nice balance of characters, including a restaurant owner, a food truck owner and a food blogger. The evening was informative, and I think everyone involved wants to work toward a day when food trucks and brick and mortar restaurants can exist in harmony. Let's meet the panelists, shall we?
