The Grand Army Plaza Food Truck Rally is Here to Stay

Photo via www.whyareyouyelling.com

Due to the success of the Food Truck Rallies held every third Sunday during the summer, the Prospect Park Alliance has decided to make food trucks a permanent fixture of Grand Army Plaza. According to DNAInfo.com, every Saturday this Fall, 4-6 food trucks will park around Bailey Fountain beneath the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch to serve up their exorbitantly-priced (yet delicious) eats. This is great news for anyone who spends the entire hour before lunch everyday trying to figure out which ones are parked within 5 blocks of their office. It’s also great news for people who don’t have office jobs because...well, just because.

So get excited, Slopers! You’re now able to enjoy Rickshaw Dumplings, Green Pirate Juice Truck, Kimchi Taco , and The Morris Truck every Saturday in a totally accessible and beautiful location. What’s more, this is all happening during the Grand Army Plaza Green Market, so basically, GAP will be your one stop Saturday spot. (Although, I have to ask: With food trucks and organic produce in the same place at the same time, at what point do we become a parody of ourselves?). The hours of the trucks will vary, but some will arrive as early as 7:30AM, and will stay until 5PM.

The biggest bummer about this whole thing is that there won’t be enough variety. I want ice cream sandwiches! I want lobster rolls! I want falafel! I’d even settle for pizza! Luckily, the Prospect Park Alliance plans to add two more food trucks to the mix, so hopefully my cries will be heard.

I’m sure there are other food trucks we’d all like to see at these mini-rallies. What say you, Park Slopians?
