[WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER AT...] 12TH STREET BAR & GRILL

WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER AT... is a recurring column designed in kind for your opinionated asses and our lazy asses.  We're going to pick one Park Slope resto a week and recommend our favorite dish at each.  Are we right?  Are we wrong?  YOU KNOW YOU WANNA WEIGH IN.

The idea of "comfort food" is usually tied in with something that your mother made.  I, unfortunately, am a complete and total stranger to that feeling because my mother could not cook anything to save her life.  If Aileen Wuornos came up to my mom and was like, "Ima kill you and your family unless you make me a really great pot roast," we would all be dead*.

Most people go home to visit and request a few of their favorite meals.  My request is usually, "Hey, can you not make anything at all?  And maybe just like, not go in the kitchen either.  Ever."

So, truly, the closest I'm ever going to get to mom's comfort food is the Lemon Thyme Roasted Chicken ($17) at 12th Street Bar & Grill (1123 Eighth Ave at 12th Street, 718-965-9526)

A slow roasted, french cut chicken breast served on a mountain of parmeasan mashed potatoes, roasted carrots with a garlic jus?  I want to go to there.  Right now.

Seriously, get over there.  And ignore the fact that they had the creepiest Valentine's Day menu design of all time.

This menu says "Hey guys, come in and have a romantic dinner and then get murdered by Aileen Wuornos" (That's TWO Aileen Wuornos references in one post, if you're keeping track).

Awesome.

What the hell is your favorite thing on offer at 12th Street?

*Just kidding, just kidding.  I know that Aileen Wuornos is 1.) dead and 2.) she didn't kill women.  Safe for another day!
