Whassup: Post-Super Tuesday Letdown Edition

via Hulu

I know what you're all thinking: with Super Tuesday over, what's the point anymore? Now that this inspiring, whirlwind of a Republican nomination has said goodnight to its biggest night, what do we have to look forward to? No more anticipation of the next stirring, eloquent, human-like speech from Mitt Romney. No more edge-of-your-seat thrills wondering what next philosophical gem Rick Santorum will pull out of his frothy butt. Well...rest assured, the nomination goes on. And so will you, with plenty to entertain yourself with over the next week in Park Slope. Welcome to Whassup: Post-Super Tuesday Letdown Edition:

* Ongoing: New(ish) Classes, Brooklyn Brainery: The share-happy nerds over at Carroll Gardens' favorite adult-ed emporium announced a new slate of classes recently. But last week's Whassup was already full. (Or maybe I forgot. I guess you'll never know.) Anyway, sign up to add new grey-matter wrinkles with classes on cursive writing, bacteria, pin-up girls, basic Japanese, and -- ooh, Octavia Butler! -- a pretty amazing sci-fi scribe, if you don't know her. Various times, classes usually from $15 to $30.

* Thursday, March 8: Tim Fite and The Woes, Union Hall: I walked in on a Tim Fite show by accident (sorta) the first time. He was opening for another band -- and it was just...weird. Weird outfits. Weird stage presence. Weird, silly, ominous songs. Strange visual projections. But just an awesome creative performance. It's an experience I recommend you have. Opening are The Woes, a tight roots-rock band with a charmingly gravelly voiced singer-songwriter at the helm. 8pm, $12.

* Friday, March 9: Cast of Bob's Burgers, Bell House: When Eugene Mirman isn't being simultaneously incredibly likable and incredibly funny as host of Union Hall's weekly "Pretty Good Friends" standup show -- well, he's probably doing a lot of things when he's not doing that. But, one of those things is providing his sounds to the animated series "Bob's Burgers." In this live show, Mirman and the other cast members will entertain you in their flesh-and-blood, non-animated incarnations. That includes Kristen Schaal and her countless vagina jokes and Jon Benjamin, the fantastic voice actor behind Sterling Archer of Archer. Bound to be popular, so get there early. 8pm Doors, FREE.

* Tuesday, March 13: Ordering Wine Skillshare, Tea Lounge: There are (at least) two awkward moments in every first date: 1) when you have to judge whether she's so feminist she'll be offended if you offer to pay, or if she's such a starving former sculpture major that she'll be embarrassed if you don't, and 2) acting like you know what the hell you're doing when ordering wine. Well, solve the second problem with this Skillshare. Learn how to fully appreciate and/or bullshit about that first sip and swirl like a pro. 7:30pm-9:30pm, FREE.

* Tuesday, March 13: Whiskey Coke Reading Series, Freddy's: Enthusiastic amateur scribes and their pleasantly, '80's retro zine gather again to share art and words. There's an open mic and the end, as well as plenty of guitar noises and singing.

* Through April 2: Doggoff, Bark: The fine-wiener purveyors over at Bark know that everyone loves madness and brackets, even if basketball's not your thing. So, they've applied the concept to their specialty: encased meats, pitting their own dogs against one another. That's right, dog fighting. Insert your own Michael Vick joke here. It goes through several rounds, and the voting is ongoing.
