This Celebrate Brooklyn Food Menu Will Rock Your Face Off

Oh, where to begin?

We here at FiPS have been granted exclusive preview access to the food menu that Tom Kearney, the chef at The Farm on Adderley in Ditmas Park, has prepared for Celebrate Brooklyn. I am so damned excited to eat this delicious food that I feel like I'm going to...well, I don't know exactly what I might do, but whatever it may be, it's definitely a manifestation of the fact that I am spectacularly excited.

In case you haven't left the Slope in several years, you might not know the one of the best reasons to get on an outbound Q train is to go to Ditmas Park and eat at The Farm on Adderley.  The food isn't just local, sustainable and thoughtfully prepared -- it's also magnificently delicious.  Fortunately for you, The Farm is in charge of the menu for Celebrate Brooklyn going on the second year in a row, so Slopers can stay in the 'hood and eat this mouthwatering fare.

With a menu that looks this good, it's hard to pick the standouts.  And yet, there are standouts. I don't know what The Farm does to make their fries taste so good, but it's not hyperbole to say that they're the best in the city.  In the restaurant, they're served with a yummy curry mayonnaise.  In the park, however, you've got four different french fry options: classic, peasant, upstate and Moroccan.  Of these, I'd go for the Moroccan fries -- the harissa-mayo is out of this world.

While we're on the subject of spicy mayonnaise, the buns include a pork sausage with sriracha mayo.  Yum!  This whole sriracha/harissa mayo thing may be the best thing to happen to us all in our otherwise pathetic and miserable lives.  The pork sausage bun is also a sure-fire winner, in my book.   On the other hand, you also don't want to overlook the eggplant bun.  At most places, the vegetarian-friendly options are an afterthought.  When Kearney's doing the cooking, the vegetarian options are often the best thing on the menu.  All the buns are sized to be a bit larger than a slider, so maybe the solution here is to order them both.

If you want red meat, however, check out the bowl of slow-cooked beef, with polenta, farmer's cheese and chilies.  Even if you aren't a fan of polenta (I've heard you people exist, though I think you're insane), you should get this and eat it.  It will convert you.  It's a bowl that will bowl you over.  I promise.

My only complaint about the menu is that last year's standout -- the tomato bread salad -- didn't make the menu this year.  Perhaps later in the season, when tomatoes start coming in from Jersey, it'll be added.  Keep your fingers crossed!
