The Snowflake Celebration Numero Uno Is TONIGHT!

Today is the first of Park Slope's annual "buy shit in the hood" (my tagline, not theirs) Snowflake Celebrations!

There are a ton of local participating businesses, some of whom will have some wine, treats and other surprises for any shoppers who swing on by this eve. Also, NO SALES TAX, BTCHZ!

You should check out the list of participating businesses here, cause a lot of them are even offering additional discounts on top of this no sales tax shiz.

So yeah: come on out and buy all your stupid xmas and hannukah pressies in Park Slope, cause if your ass is lazy like mine, you won't have to go far! Also it's nice-n-stuff.

If you can't make it out tonight (shops are all open late!) they're doing another one on Dec. 16th.

Whole Foods To Park Slope: It's On Like Donkey Kong

image via CurbedYep, it's official: Whole Foods in Gowanus is happening! Rejoice in the streets all you suspended Food Coop shift workers!

The store is gonna have a 20,000sf roof garden where they're going to grow their own locally produced and cruelty-free veggies. There's going to bike parking, an electric car charging station, a waterfront esplanade and probably a fucking vegan compost mosh pit for all we know.

Anyone wanna take bets on which will be finished first? Whole Foods or Atlantic Yards?

Here's the official release from Mark Mobley (of Whole Foods) to Craig Hammerman, the District Manager of Community Board 6:

Calling Queens (not the borough): Swag Awaits in the Gowanus

Okay, I'm not just writing this up because Film Biz Recycling is one of my followers. One of my FOUR followers. On my new twitter account. Which I don't really know how to use yet.

Thanks Reclaimed Home for letting us know...

Awesome news for County of Kings thrift junkies! Film Biz Recycling is moving to Gowanus! If you want to hit the Long Island City space one last time, they are having a name-your-price clearance sale starting today until the end of the month.

Grand opening at 540 President Street will be on or around December 1st.

If you’ve never been, the massive shop is chock full of used TV and movie props. Everything from vintage dish sets to clean linens to artwork.  It. is. awesome. And it will be ours! F.U. Queens where I was never able to find parking.

Also! The new space will stock building materials and paints. So again, Brooklynites won’t have to schlep to Build it Green in Queens for these items.

It’s a win/win for everyone. (Except Queens)

I, for one, am very excited about the new shop we're getting in the Gowanus! More excited than I am about cupcakes, that's for sure. Because we NEED this place. I feel more complete knowing it's coming. I'm even willing to overcome my terror of bedbugs to hit the grand opening. And, my family will be happy. Because they sell to Red Sox fans, too!

I'm A Lil' Confused: Animated Closet To Open

We got a tip that this place called Animated Closet is opening next week, sort of across the street from Beacon's Closet (87 Fifth Avenue).

I'm trying VERY hard not to immediately hate it, but here's what our anon FIPS reader said:

"You know it's the real mad shit because they had an actual hipster graffiti crew drinking PBR's and spraypainting an urban-nature scene on the roll down gate just now.

My hood is bad, yo."

I Survived The BK Tornado, And All I Got Was This Stinkin T-Shirt

Less than 24 hours, and we've already got a commemorative t-shirt. That's right, btchz: get em while they're hot. You can even choose diff color shirts, styles, etc. And no, we were not the soon-to-be rich motherfuckers who came up with this shit.

Also, you should know that that insanity last night WAS, indeed, a ginuwine tornado after all. So fuck anyone out there who was doubting us: we *did* have a tornado, and it *did* hit Park Slope.

BOOYAH.
