Before I Die... in Brooklyn

Popular burger joint Shake Shack will be opening up a new Brooklyn shop on the corner of Adams Street and the Fulton Street Mall. While construction is going on, these folks had the great idea to turn the work walls into a giant chalkboard for a project called "Before I die..." This is where people can write down things they'd like to accomplish (learn piano!) but fail to do so because they get distracted (The Food Network is playing a Chopped marathon!)

Return of the Soup Bowl

Photo via Here's Park Slope

The cold weather is moving in, and so is The Soup Bowl (or "Soup Bowel," as my dad would call it). Located at 321 Seventh Avenue, between 8th and 9th Streets (home to Uncle Louie G's during the warm months), the local-ingredient-lovin' joint will be serving soups like Lobster Butternut Squash Bisque, Long Island Clam chowder and Autumn Vegetable, just to name a few. Yum.

Beer Hall Coming to The North Slope

Photo via Brownstoner

Glücklicher tag! Park Slope is getting a Bierhaus! Brownstoner reports that the Community 6 permits committee blessed a full liquor license to 84 St. Marks (off of 4th ave). The bar, which will be run by the manager of Fort Greene's Der Schwarze Kölner, will have 30 German draft beers and grilled, Cologne-styled German food. It will be open for brunch starting at noon on weekends, and 2PM on weekdays. When Brownstoner asked the owner when this beer haven might be open for business he said, “We’ll open when we finish." Sounds very much like my mom's snide, "We'll get there when we get there" answer during road trips to Grandma's house.

Will you guys check out this beer house when it opens?
