Celebrate Brooklyn: It's ON

Yo, so some tix are available for a few of this summer's Celebrate Brooklyn concerts in Prospect Park.

You can currently get tix for:

  • MGMT on 7/1
  • Jackson Browne on 7/21
  • Animal Collective on 8/14 & 8/15

The opening night event on June 3rd June 8th, (thx Faye) will include music from David Byrne.  More shows will be announced in weeks to come.

Personally, I usually like to cheapass it, NOT get tix, and sit out on the lawn right outside of the bandshell area (that's where all the good BYOB/BYOWeed action is anyway).

I Can't Handle Much More of this Phish Shit

Oh. Em. Gee.

I can't fucking handle it.  Phish is only three dates into their stupid reunion tour, and already I want to kill myself.

Between the non-stop chatter on Twitter, the multi-media concert video/audio downloads, the mainstream media, and my former wannabe hippie husband Greg (who is totally fucking obsessed), there is no way in hell I can reasonably expect to make it through an entire summer of this.

Mom, Fuck Israel; This is the Worst Thing the Times Has Ever Done.

I just keep staring at this thing over and over again like it's 9/11 footage.

Holy christ, could this be as fucking bad as it seems?

In this Sunday's Op-Ed section, the New York Times posted a Roger Cohen song parody so bad that Weird-Al Yankovic should un-friend Roger Cohen and kick him in the nuts.

He was trying to perform y2k maintenance on Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire as a tribute to Obama, though I'm sure the president-elect would have preferred to receive a simple Don't Be Homesick Gift Crate from Zabars.

'Brooklyn Go Hard': Introducing Our (V. Obvs) Choice For BK's Official New F.I.P.S. Endorsed Anthem

Kanye West produced this kick ass Jay-Z track (featuring Santogold) for Biggie's soon-to-be-released biopic (and my soon-to-be obsession) Notorious.

A. I can't stop listening to it.
B. How fucking cool is this vid? (sidenote: This is the first rap video with open source code).
B. As much as I love the Beastie Boys, I'm totally psyched to have a song that can *finally* (maybe?) kick "No Sleep Till Brooklyn's" ass.

You likey?
