'Brooklyn Go Hard': Introducing Our (V. Obvs) Choice For BK's Official New F.I.P.S. Endorsed Anthem
Posted by: Erica | Friday, December 5, 2008 at 12:30AM
Kanye West produced this kick ass Jay-Z track (featuring Santogold) for Biggie's soon-to-be-released biopic (and my soon-to-be obsession) Notorious.
A. I can't stop listening to it.
B. How fucking cool is this vid? (sidenote: This is the first rap video with open source code).
B. As much as I love the Beastie Boys, I'm totally psyched to have a song that can *finally* (maybe?) kick "No Sleep Till Brooklyn's" ass.
You likey?

Hate to be a comments whore this morning...but a whore is a whore...
Yawn, hate Jay-Z...the video is actually cool, but why would he make it look like him? Self centered dick...
That's all... Video's cool...Jay-Z not so cool.
Wait, I just re-read your the actual post...no do not make it a FIPS anthem, you should have some performing broke artist at Tea Lounge make one, shit, ask some 2nd graders to make one...but please not Jay-Z...
@Arock: do you really not like HOVA's music or is HOVA himself?
On the plus side 4 u, I didn't exactly check in with any of my other FIPS cohorts on this anthem thing, so that issue is still probs *technically* up in the air
Had to edit my comment, I type faster than I can think, and I don't think very good...er, think very well. Especially if RJT is on here checking for grammer...er grammar.
I just never liked him... it all sounds the same...his constantly going on and on about something, usually the same thing... He's music is very self centered...always talking about "I" "me"...
Moreover, he's with Beyonce and she's hot and all, sings, dances, looks pretty...but she has two brains cells fighting to the death in her head.
I just preface this by stating that I am not a big mainstream kind of guy...
LOL and I still fucked it up..not changing it this time...have to get ready for work...zzzzzz
Not Young Hov's best but it's not bad though not great either. The beat is a recycled beat that Kanye also used to produce another Jay-Z song on Kingdom Come two years ago.
I don't know, to me they just all seem like assholes (except for Common...he seems like a stand up dude). Diddy? Asshole. Kanye? HA...MAJOR asshole (and yet I listen to their stuff). Lately I've kinda been digging it anytime I happen to come across a Jay-Z jam if I have my ipod on shuffle. But also I have v. weird musical taste: cross between a Jappy wigga and a 16-year-old girl (which explains my Justin Timberlake love). So no one should really ever listen to anything I have to say.
Dig the song, not sure it would hold up to endless listening. NO SLEEP FTW.
The M.I.A.-Lite kind of section, was that Santogold? Nice, whatever it was. I'm HOVAgnostic - take or leave, but dig the bejesus out of the Grey Album.
@Arock - oh god help me, I'm the guy that corrects grammar on comment threads?! Don't make me be that guy!
You are an idiot. Your Open source comment makes no sense. how can a video be open source??
it ends with a LINK to open source code - like an ad.
why pretend to understand something if you don't.
u fails

"Currently based in Hong Kong, Evan Roth is an American artist with a focus in technology, tools of empowerment, open source, and popular culture. He is also the co-founder of Graffiti Research Lab and F.A.T. (Free Art & Technology), a R&D lab for the public domain.
Over the last five years, he has been pairing typefaces with music to create stunning portraits through a process he refers to as typographic illustration. After selecting a font, he layers thousands of letters on top of one another until a face emerges.
Evan was recently commissioned to make a video for a new Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. The song, produced by Kanye West and featuring Santogold, provides the background beats while the letters “Brooklyn” fall into place, creating an image of Jay-Z himself. Not surprisingly, the video is open source."
Notice if you click on that little linky linky above it takes you to another link to download the motherfucking SOURCE CODE???
I don't think you are an idiot because you are not very good at reading comprehension, but I do suggest you take a closer look next time.
And for the record: I am an asshole...often a bitch...but def not an idiot.
@erica
Ha - so you read it in some other idiot's blog? You're both morons.
If you wanted to say it properly you would say: "The algorithm used to generate the animations portrayed in the video is open source"
"the video is opensource" makes no sense and sounds like manager-speak.
Plus, your blog has gotten annoying fast. More of Blognigger's friend's funny articles are needed, and less of your extremely whining tone-heavy writing which is sending me heading for the river
bubble gum bullshit! shove it up yer ass
A. You should see a doctor about that. Cool track, but this isn't an anthem or a banger or a burner or anything remotely resembling something anyone should want to listen to. Kanye's lost the touch--this is a mid-album interlude, not a big track. Jay-Z has gone mad. His lyrics and delivery are nonsense.
B. It's a cool video. No reason to like the song.
C. If you want a song to kick NSTB's ass, how about you listen to some more music? But seriously, the reason the Beastie's song is classic is because it's a fucking anthem. You can sing along. You can be proud. Are you rapping alongside Jay-Z when you crank this up in your VW Rabbit? If you are, can you post a video? Because I've not had a good laugh in a while.
If you need a better Brooklyn song for your Zune, try Mos Def's "Brooklyn" - 1000x better than this tepid pile you posted. Or half of Talib Kweli's tracks. Or both in Black Star.
