FiPS Cares: Help The Catskills!

Photo via WNYC

Hurricane Irene might have been anti-climactic for those of us in Brooklyn, but we were waaaaaaay luckier than people in the Catskills. YOU might only go there on weekends, but I have it on good authority that some people actually live there -- like, all the time. And those people need your help.

We learned via Reclaimed Home that there's an effort underway to collect much-needed provisions and supplies for folks upstate who are continuing to suffer from the aftermath of Irene.  And, because they know that you are incredibly lazy, they've made it really easy for you Park Slopers to make a donation.  Just drop your stuff off at Boing Boing Maternity, on the corner of Union Street and 6th Ave.  You can either show up between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. (ask for Karen or Kevin), or, if that's not convenient, you can just leave your donations in the gated yard during off-hours.

So on your way out of town this weekend, stop off at Costco, buy a bunch of stuff and take it to the drop off place, okay? Here's what they need:

PROVISIONS

Bottled Water

Non-Perishable Food

CLEANING SUPPLIES

Laundry Soap

Toilet Paper

Paper Towels

Ajax/Clorox/etc.

Soap

Toothpaste

Toothbrushes

One last thing -- when the power went out, the supply of blood in the area blood banks became unusable, so there's a real shortage, now.  You should totally open up a vein for the Catskills, okay?  Okay!
