COOL OR NOT COOL: BLOGGING ABOUT Kiddie FASHION?

Look, bitches: I tried really hard to not post about this blog--Planet Awesome Kid. REALLY hard.

But then I started clicking around, and before I knew it my gag reflex was engaged, and well....here we are.

I mean, duh...all the kids featured on this blog *are* v. friggin cute; and I'm sure its author is well intentioned, fashion forward, and lovely IRL. BUT, is it me, or is it a little odd to be blogging about the fashion "choices" of children WHO HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE what they are wearing to begin with? And are likely taking a shit in their pants moments after their "fashion photo" is snapped?

Because this blog seems to be speaking about them as if:

a. Analyzing the fashion "trends" of toddlers is a normal thing to be doing.

b. We should be encouraging (and celebrating!) the inevitable embrace of material things in these kids lives.

c. What they are wearing is the only thing interesting thing about them.

d. That a "kiddie style revolution" should even exist.

I mean, behold some of the commentary:

"Sitting on the stoop in all her vintage glory.  This girl was so chic that even her custom design pedicure was pure perfection."

"Love the very graphic black and white outfit and the awesome Vans! It is amazing how colorful pure black and white can look, done right!" (this was said about a baby who was too young to even be standing on his own).

"Priceless.  A baby cowgirl in Brooklyn……Perfectly accessorized!  The hat is vintage from a Bluegrass Festival!"

Oh, and one of my faves! (caption for image above): "The definition of effortless chic.  I love little girls in button downs.  It should be done more often."

Indeed....I was just thinking the *very* same thing.

[this space has been intentionally left blank].

Here's the bottom line people: I'd feel waaaay better about this whole exercise if we could just call a spade a spade--why hide the truth? This website is basically just an online masturbatorium for practicing parents in the cult of Kiddie Worship, who can click around and jerk each other off about how precious (and MOST IMPORTANLY: WELL DRESSED!) their spawn are! Only these kids mostly have fuck all to do with what they're wearing, so if you think they look good, people: its because their parents are soooo chic and fabulous, and made them look that way! And don't you wish your bebe was chic and fabulous too!?

Anyway.

That's what I think. But, clearly, I'm the biggest asshole around, so I'm curious what you guys think:

Kiddie fashion blogging: Cool or not cool?
