Census 2010: How Many More Babies Are There in Park Slope?
It gives me great pleasure to announce: NOT. A. ONE.
According to my inexpert comparative analysis of the changes to Park Slope between the 2000 and 2010 Censuses (is that how you say it?), there are 574 FEWER kids under the age of 18 in the hood, while the population has increased overall by about 1,200 people. This means that while the population increased by 2% overall, the number of rugrats and teens went DOWN by 5%.
Now, yes, it could be argued that while smaller in number, the levels of entitlement and oxygen suckage have risen dramatically but just as a fact, there are fewer little shits to kick around!
What do you know... and hahahahaha.
(How I arrived at my numbers: I took the tract number data for Park Slope from here (I'm saying Park Slope is comprised of tract #s 117, 121, 127, 129.1, 129.2, 131, 133, 135, 137, 139, 141, 149, 151, 153, 155, 157, 159, 161, 165 & 167) and added up total population and under 18 population for 2000 and 2010 Censuses. Then I had my 12-year-old tell me how to do the rest.)
