Cool or Not Cool?: Partying in Hot Tubs with Strangers

Image via GothamistA UK hot tub company is joining forces with Crowdtilt, a social event website, and they're about to make a big splash in Brooklyn. I know, I hate myself too. On May 8th they are going to open up 14 hot tubs on a roof, pump drinks into horny people and roll a movie. What can possibly go wrong with taking a bunch of strangers without body issues, stripping them, getting them hammered and turning off the lights? They should hand out prenatal vitamins after the movie. This all has a very Species feel to it. It's definitely extraterrestrial in some way. They're running an experiment to watch us mate so they can take over our planet. Just spitballing.

Dead Body Found in the Gowanus Canal

Yesterday afternoon, Gothamist and DNAinfo broke the news that a dead body was found in the Gowanus canal just after 3 pm. There is not much else to report at this point, except that it was the body of a black male, who, according to the NY Daily News, was wearing a blue sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. No word on whether they've been able to identify him yet -- according to Gothamist, there was no ID found on the body. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death, but it's probably safe to assume the poor guy was dead before he hit the toxic sludge of the canal. Right???

What's The Deal with Keith Hernandez "Magic Loogie" Bobbleheads?

Image via brooklyncyclones.comTwenty-Five years ago this July 5th, a show named The Seinfeld Chronicles premiered. Despite low ratings, the NBC picked it up for a short first season that aired in 1990 as simply Seinfeld. Yadda, yadda, yadda, and this July 5th the  Brooklyn Cyclones are giving away Keith Hernandez “Magic Loogie” bobbleheads to the first 2,500 attendees in celebration of Seinfeld’s anniversary.

The bobblehead captures Keith Hernandez’s appearance on the Seinfeld episode in which he bickers with Kramer and Newman over a “magic loogie” incident (a riff on Oliver Stone’s JFK and its “magic bullet”) and then hooks up with Elaine. Right down to the mullet.
