Bagel Hole: Friend or Foe?

We say friend, but our neighbor "8thandPrez" was none too happy on a recent morning when they hauled themselves over to the "Hole" only to be refused:

* a toast
* AND a slice

Criminal behavior, or par for the course at the borough's best bagel joint?

As per u, spirited discussion ensues.

Bagel Hole is known for that - no toasting, no slicing. Just good bagels.

All-time bagel champion H&H Bagels DOES NOT SLICE.

slicing is bullshit - think this is a fuckin Deli??

You're lucky you can get stuff on the bagel if you want it - technically they shouldn't even be doing THAT.

Bagel Hole stands strong as PS champ.

I know. I had the same experience at the Hole at about 8 a.m.while trying to get #%*# bagels for my child's class party. "We don't slice" accompanied by a deliberate snub by manager in the back. I even offered to pay extra. No dice.

i left there so dammed pissed, but still with unsliced bagels in bag.

??

If they don't slice then how did FIPS bagel get sliced and schmeared in the original review?

Listen losers, it is simple, it is bagel-ness at it's finest yet most simple. Get a buttered fill in the blank/whatever they have available and enjoy!

Since Bagel Hole makes the only really good bagel in the greater Park Slope area, they can do whatever the heck they please. It's criminally un-New York to toast a bagel; that's something you do to Lender's or to day-olds. A fresh bagel without a topping does not need to be sliced, so BH employees don't waste on killing a perfectly good bagel. So either get it untoasted with a spread, plain and unsliced or shove off and patronize the multitude of crap bagel places all over the neighborhood. Toasted! Sliced! Sheesh!

We've had Bagel Hole cater both of my sons' bris... wait, how do you write a plural of bris? Is it just bris? Brisses? Bri? Brisae? You can tell I only *married* Jewish...

ANYWAY - we had them cater both Snippings (there we go) and they were great. The manager was attentive and friendly in a brusque kind of way, the portions were good, and we have a "Bagel Biter" (someone - cough my wife cough - fell victim to an infomercial or something) to cut them at home so we didn't mind the whole-ness.

All of which is a long way to say, in our experience, "FRIEND."

Who orders a bagel, sliced, with cream cheese on the side?

I'm surprised she didn't want it scooped out too.

Bagel Hole is legit, they don't have time for high maintenance bullshit . Save that for Bagel Boss on Long Island!

I went there this weekend to get a bagel and they were out of 80% of their bagels - everything, garlic, onion, poppy - WTF??? I went to Terrace bagels instead, which is around the corner from my house but was not on my way that day. And as usual they had the best bagels, best service and best bagels in Brooklyn. Yes it's ever so outside of the Slope, but worth the walk.

first of all, if you slopers would have the balls to venture even the slightest it outside of your comfort zone, you would know that Bergen Bagel is the best in town.

The non-slicing and non-toasting is fine. but if you're gonna sell condiments, you need to provide these services.
